The difference is he is immensely likeable. Always came across as a man of the people, much like Clint Gutherson.

Geyer wasn't likable when he was playing.

To get into media you either need to have something interesting to say or have that everyman type of charisma. Hayne has neither.

Darren Lockyer doesn't seem to have them either.
I wouldn't want to see Hayne join any sort of commentary team. I think he would be hard to listen to. But let's not sit here and pretend like channel 9 and Foxtel haven't gone and hired some ex-footballers for their coverage who were not suited to the role at all.

At the very least I could see Fox Sports getting Hayne onto their news channel once a week to give us his insight into that weekend's NFL games as an "expert" of the sport.
