Been plenty of speculation regarding Hayne and his dreams since 2014. Funnily enough, most of that speculation has been close to spot on.

None of that was while he was at Parra.
In fact his NFL dream was kept extremely close to his chest so much so nobody knew about it until he made the announcement. There was essentially zero speculation about that.
The media speculation about Eel Hayne has always been wrong.

I reckon there is. If Jarryd wanted to leave for rugby in 2019, he was better off staying at the Titans and collecting the cash this year. I think he has been told that his next contract with the Eels will be improved if he performs this year, which was enough to get him across the line.

Quite possibly but there’s also the loyalty factor which could play a small part. I also genuinely think he stands to earn more post career if he creates a legacy with the eels for the next 5 years, rather than a code hopping dream chaser. Even if he changes clubs again I don’t think those post footy opportunities will exist to the same degree.

If Hayne has 4 or 5 more successful seasons with the eels, he’ll still go down as an eels great. People will forget about his 1 1/2 seasons with the Titans and his failed sevens attempt. The NFL thing was pretty cool so he can quite easily get back on peoples good side.

I don’t think there will be any shortage of opportunities for Hayne the brand and he’s still a very good footballer so who knows, perhaps there is value in bringing him on board in some kind of specialist coaching position. He may mature and have some advice on what not to do for some of the younger players coming through.

Finally, I don’t subscribe to the Hayne is dumb as dogshit brigade. However, even if you’re right he’d have smart people looking after him. He (or his team) were pretty clever how they went about the NFL adventure.

The difference is he is immensely likeable. Always came across as a man of the people, much like Clint Gutherson.

To get into media you either need to have something interesting to say or have that everyman type of charisma. Hayne has neither.

I reckon Hayne has 3 more season at a high level left MAX... 30,31,32 years of age.

His plans to do 1yr in parra at a lower rate knowing he will get a payday in rugby may of helped his choise to come.

Does it matter? If Hayne goes there is a high chance Bevan goes to fullback a d Gutherson to centre. There is also chance Afalou kicks on and is ready.

2018 is a chance to win title. I doubt losing Hayne for 2019 will cost our hopes for thst season either.

Haynes best bet was too play his career at eels and maybe get some sort of job with coaching staff. I do not see him as a media personality.Nor do I see the eels being loyal to him when retires.
His best bet now is to get as much cash as he can.

After this season in NRL he would either want a 2 or 3 yr contract if stays in NRL.
Unsure he will attract huge offers. Esepcialy playing at centre. 550k-600k over 3 seasons would stop it. He will be 31,32,33.....
If was was Hayne id look at a 2yr deal then try and get 2 yrs in the UK. h can make id say another 3million out of his sporting career. That should set him up nicely.
