I'm not saying BA is perfect but there is a pattern with the players at our club and it has been going for 2 decades. It is the culture in this club.

The attitude has been poor, that is the part that i don't understand!

The old 'culture' routine, eh? So, over twenty years - with six changes of coaching staff, several overhauls of management, and a complete transition of playing roster - our 'culture' remains consistent? Hmm.

Consistently poor.

And if you were provided with such, you would agree that sometimes the coach can make mistakes? It's okay to criticise the coach from time to time you know. It really is. And it's okay if he makes mistakes. Doesn't mean he's hopeless (he's not) or we hate him (we don't). Just means he's human like all the rest of us. I, for one, (though I'm sure I speak for others) am quite happy to fully support a coach who makes a
few mistakes. But I do have the right to point them out as I see them. That"s part of being a fan. Hypothesising about what changes I would make if I was the coach is a little game us fans play. It's fun. It's part of what football forums are all about. Haven't you got that yet?
You might have noticed I play it too. For example, I think Hayne should play on the wing. But it doesn't mean the coach made a mistake to play him at fullback or centre. It certainly doesn't f**king entitle me to claim he made a mistake just because we lost a couple of games.

So, over a period of twenty years our 'culture' can remain consistent? With complete changes in personnel; six or so different coaches, totally different players, complete overhauls in the board. But our 'culture' can remain consistent over twenty years? Think of your own workplace. Is that even possible?
Actually it is. Until very recently the culture of the ADF had been very resistant to change despite generations of bogans coming and going. Culture is passed down from the old to the new. It easily becomes entrenched in a place. It is said by management types, only half jokingly, that the best way to change the culture of an organisation is to sack everyone and bring in new people all in one go.

That said, I think our culture has changed significantly since 2014.

Well, you have no right to say that Jarryd Hayne should be playing on the wing.
Actually I do have that right. What I don't have the right to do is to say that every loss is proof that I'm right. Only an absolute f**kwit would make such a claim.

Obviously there are reasons not to play Hayne on the wing. His playmaking ability is wasted there, for example, plus the media circus would kick into overdrive. Better would be to select him at fullback but then let him spend half the game on the wing while he's getting his breath back. Bevan French can time share.

Why dont you develop a percentage like I do. Im right 85% of the time. If it was 100% id be a f**kwit. You know f**k all about loop holes.....

But, could you deal with being 100%? The pressure of being 100% and all that comes with it, I dunno if that's worth being a f**kwit. You'd be better off making sure you don't drop to 50%. Nobody wants to be a halfwit.

The high an euphoric feeling from winning the grand final wont be any different then when say the eels beat Brisbane last year at ANZ.Ok well slightly higher. All the anxiety leading up too the game probably would outweight the high but even if the high was that good we could be left chasing it for another 30yrs....And no matter how hard we tried it just would never be as good.

But why couldn't it mean that the coach made a mistake? Why would it be so terrible if he did? And what is so awful about a fan (like me or you) suggesting he might have?

You are comparing the whole of the ADF with one club. You would have to compare the culture of one regiment with one club, not the whole organisation. I have worked for NSW Health for the best part of 40 years. The culture there has changed, but very slowly. But I have witnessed many very rapid cultural changes within individual departments over that period of time.

Don't kid yourself. The excitement of winning in 81, 82, 83, and '86was absolutely unbelievable. Nothing compares.

I guess the point is that nobody will ever know if it was a mistake. Even doing something different could have had unintended consequences and turned out worse.

So merkins talking about the coach making mistakes is just their attempt to say that they know better. And they don't know better.
