Former NRL star Jarryd Hayne has announced his surprise engagement to girlfriend Amellia Bonnici as he waits for a retrial over sexual assault charges.
Hayne took to Instagram on Christmas day to share a photo of his new bride-to-be sporting a diamond ring.
"'He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favour from the LORD." Proverbs 18:22 NKJV,' he wrote.
'It's been a rollercoaster. But I'm thankful for God and what the Holy Spirit has done through us.
'It's only by the grace of God we are here and we're excited moving forward as Husband n Wife.'

The image, shared on Friday, shows Hayne and Ms Bonnici standing together smiling as she shows off her bejeweled hand.
The post garnered more than 6000 likes, with an influx of 'congratulations' messages from fellow footballer players and friends.
Former Parramatta and Manly prop Darcy Lussick, Bulldogs fullback William Hopoate and American footballer Marcus Cromartie all offered their best wishes, as did Hillsong Church pastor Brian Houston.
'Such great news. Love and prayers from Bobbie and I,' Mr Houston wrote.
'Congrats big fella,' Lussick added.
Brighton and Hove Albion goal keeper Matthew Ryan and professional boxer Lucas Browne also responded with congratulatory messages.
'Congratulations mate and merry Christmas,' Ryan said.
Soccer player Tahj Minniecon added: 'Congrats brother'.
While Ms Bonnici was given a ring, Hayne was presented with a new PlayStation 5 during the couple's Christmas gift exchange.

Ms Bonnici, who is the mother of his daughter Beliviah Ivy, has stood by the footballer throughout his highly publicised sexual assault case, where Hayne is accused of attacking a woman in her bedroom.
The two-week trial in Newcastle District Court earlier this month ended in a hung jury, with a retrial set for next year.
Hayne was working with high-powered barrister Phillip Boulten SC on his defence, but a scheduling clash has forced him to take up new counsel.
Richard Pontello SC will now head Hayne's legal campaign.
Prosecutor Brian Costello confirmed the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions would pursue two rape charges against Hayne after his jury was discharged when they failed to reach a verdict.
Judge Tim Gartelmann said if the trial went ahead in Newcastle, it was unlikely to be accommodated until late 2021 or early 2022.
The judge said the Newcastle courts' diary had been impacted by COVID-19, causing delays and indicated the trial could possibly be heard earlier in Sydney.

The case was briefly adjourned to allow Mr Costello and Hayne's defence lawyer Penny Musgrave to discuss their options.
Both parties returned a short time later with Ms Musgrave, who appeared via audio visual link from Sydney, telling the court she had spoken to the court listings manager who indicated Hayne's two-week trial could start in Sydney on March 8.
Mr Costello said the application to move the trial to Sydney was not opposed given it would proceed much more expeditiously than if it returned to Newcastle.
The judge listed the case for a readiness hearing in Sydney on January 29 with the trial to begin on March 8. Hayne's bail was continued until January 29.
Hayne, who was excused from appearing in court on Wednesday because he had legal representation, has pleaded not guilty to two charges of aggravated sexual assault recklessly inflicting actual bodily harm.
He was one of the country's most famous rugby league players when a young woman sent him an Instagram message saying he was 'absolutely gorgeous'.
Hayne said he was holidaying in Dubai, cruising in a mall, when he replied a day later on September 14, 2018, saying: 'Price it.'
