So much speculation about stuff none of us know anything about.
Ash Taylor going here or there, Hayne being a poor trainer, what Hayne will do after his current deal expires (LOL) etc....

Just to answer a few questions though before I'm accused (again) of being a Hayne apologist.

1. Do I think he is match fit? No. He has clearly struggled at times. He has also clearly lost some pace. Neither of which he cannot get back.
2. Do I think we should have got Hayne back to the Eels at all costs? No. Not at all. There is a balance needed in salary cap expenditure that could have been upset with his return.
3. Are the Eels better off without him? Tbh, who knows? At this stage, probably yes, but in the long run, it is only speculation and nobody knows.
4. (Delboy) Did or Has Hayne hurt his brand? Amongst the majority of Eels fans, probably yes. I'm pissed off too at the way things panned out. I'm not sure ALL the blame can be laid on Hayne and his management though, unless we know all the facts, which none of us ever will. I'm not sure the fans or management of the Titans would be thinking along these lines though.
5. I'm not even going to remotely approach some other laughable suggestions that have been posted here over the last few days because honestly, they are embarrassing.

My personal opinion is that Hayne was a magnificent player for our club and gave me plenty of great memories. He was the most talented player I've ever seen that wore the blue and gold.
He has made several life and career defining decisions that many of us haven't liked. Including me.
But I'm sitting here giving him the benefit of the doubt to make his own choices in life and will continue to not be judgmental of him for doing what he thinks is right. If his decisions piss some people off, that's fine and nothing I say will change that.

What I have difficulty in accepting is innuendo and non factual accusations and name calling, and beyond that, there is the ignorant, juvenile bullshit,
Each to their own I suppose.

:p

FWIW - I tend to take your line of thinking on this whole thing. It's still disappointing to me that he didn't come back to help us win a title. But the disappointment I have is not with him or our club, or the NRL or anyone or anything in particular, it's just a general disappointment.... there was a romance in the possibility of him coming to Parra and to help us go all the way but in the absence of that, as you say, I'll still look back on some of the displays in our jersey with admiration and marvel. He had it all (maybe still does) and for a while was untouchable in a way I don't think I'll ever see again from anyone...

If I could have added that to my post, I would have.

Suity, I have 2 grandsons who support the Tigers and the Warriors, strangely both of them have turned off JH because he didn't return as promised. Right or wrong, that's what they think

As an aside, I spoke to a senior Fox identity last night, he said it was common knowledge in the game circles that the NRL ensured the Titans were placed in front of JH and given preference and favouritism to suit the NRL. Anyway it's done now, and we all have memories of our run in 2009 and other standouts, just can't warm to him these days

Football is tribal. Supporters are passionate and have strong opinions about the code they support and the club (or for @hindy111 clubs) they support. You of all people should have a first hand knowledge to what tribalism is all about re: WSW.

So to suggest that some here are being childish in their reaction about what he did or does is surprising.

You have made your position clear. Cool. Others do not agree and never will. That's what tribalism is all about.

I tend to agree with most of this. We either love a player to death or bash the living daylights out of them.

I am glad we didn't throw the house at him in an attempt to sign him but I am really happy he is back in the NRL.

As for the 'hurt his brand' comment. Unfortunately, the facts are somewhat irrelevant now. A lot of people perceive Hayne as being a bit of a dick. I'm not sure he is as big a dick as some people on here think but he hasn't helped himself with some of his recent actions and comments.

Mate I couldn't agree more. As for your comment about people being childish in their reactions, it wasn't meant towards you. I can't make that more clear, and I think it's obvious who I was talking about, because few, if any have agreed with her as well.

I also couldn't agree more with this comment. Hayne hasn't endeared himself to all, but he also hasn't ostracised himself to as many as some might TRY and make us believe. Although there are 7000 people who have jumped off the Titans bandwagon, apparently.

Suck shit to Manly but rules for Hayne vs rules for everyone else:

.......When asked about the Hayne exemption on Tuesday, Todd Greenbergeven admitted he'd personally helped lure the superstar home.

"We should make no apologies for the ability for the ability for us to attract the best athletes back inside the game," Greenberg said.

"I make no apology about that. I actively sought Jarryd out to come back to the NRL."

So we can understand why Manly thought the same latitude would be granted to Winterstein, who, like Hayne, was making the jump from rugby sevens after missing the cut for Rio 2016.

Much to the amazement of Manly's coaching staff both the NRL and NSWRL sat idle and initially refused to register the 29-year-old journeyman.

The delay went on for two weeks, with manly desperate to blood the forward through NSW Cup before using him in first grade over the closing rounds.

As the stand-off continued, Winterstein's manager upped the ante in his communications with the NRL and pointed-out the Hayne double standard.

He was told Hayne puts bums on seats and boosts TV ratings. He argued that, unlike Hayne, Winterstein has a child to feed and desperately needed the match payments.

Anyone who thinks Grenturd is good for the game and doesn't play favourites really needs to look in the mirror.

He is a myth that favours his political power base, he will come under scrutiny from the clubs not aligned to him without doubt, and of course he had nothing to do with JH moving so quickly on the Tits offer

Agreed.

All in all, he isn't a complete merkin.

Last night at Parra Leagues club my son and i caught the escalator to the 3rd floor where there is a MASSIVE Jarryd Hayne picture at the top of the escalator. Takes up half the wall. My son laughed and said 'what's that still doing there?. I told him, "because he is still and will always be a legend of this club, it's most talented player ever, and a man who has entertained us supporters for years. That doesn't change." (yes - I am a wise old man!)

I hope they always keep the picture up there because it deserves to be. As do the photos on the 'Wall of Fame' of Jamie Lyon, Brett Hodgson, Andrew Ryan, Pat Richards etc etc etc. The fact they ended up at other clubs does not diminish what they did at our club one little bit.
