I tend to agree with the general sentiment of this thread, he is immensely overrated, by our own fans and everyone else.

Seeing him jogging to the ball when he is clearly caught out of position, you'd have to say his attitude is more that problem than his intelligence. He just doesn't seem to care enough to focus

when hayne is concerned, the weakness people talk about is him delivering over a long period of time. Because the fact is in recent times hayne has been great, the thing that has impressed me in the last couple of years, is hayne's constant ability to deliver with this expectation on him. When people compare him to billy they speak about this consistency over 4-5 years, but no one speaks about billys 06 season which was suspension riddled and filled with a stint at the bears. Hayne has been pretty consistent, he hasn't just. Dropped out of the sky (06 great debut year, 07 move to fb and narrowly miss out on gf, 08 Fiji rlwc semi final, 09 fantastic in origin) the main disappointments I could pick were when eels fans booed him at five eigth early last year, but ando was in the right frame of mind, looking at his playmaking since. He has been awesome for the blues, having to play with rubbish selections every year. he was shown up this year as a right winger when he's been a great left winger throughout his origin career and as a club FB. Hayne's form is only so glaring because the eels' other strike weapons in mateo and moimoi don't play 80 mins. So their reliance on him may be contributing to the eels' problems as jt said but they're better with than without him. Let's face it, the eels' last two games were against two red hot teams, and they gave it a red hot go yesterday until they showed their defence isn't really strong under continual pressure.

when the highlight of his 08 year was stepping on the line playing wing in origin and starring for fiji, you know he isn't consistent yet

he's just so ordinary at times, like 2nd half last night and next week vs broncs as the season ends for his team.
most of the legends you mentioned could change the course of a game just like jarryd can, but did it for season after season and were recognised by state selectors as best by far in their position year after year, see how hayne plain goes in 4 or 5 years?

just a flash in the pan, so far

 Do you watch footy? The Titans went great. The Eels gave up, and the one time they got down the other end, he put Fui into a hole and almost over the line. What else can he do, make 5 x 12 metre hitups every set?

The reason why people talk about Hayne so often is because its such a cheap and easy rise out of Eel supporters who are perhaps the craziest supporters on this forum.

Theres only so many threads about him because the media drools over him.
If the media didnt drill him down our throats, he'd probably be quite popular
