Hayne vs Stuart & Co?

COACH STERLING

Hayne said he was really disappointed in how things were handled with his mates leaving.
To be honest, I wonder if he's ever thought of how disappointed all the fans are with watching his mates getting flooded by 40 each weak.

I couldnt give a sh*t anymore. The coach rules the playing roster and everyone needs to be on the same page, including Hayne!

I think we wont be anywhere near 'where we want to be' til 2015, with or without the mass cleanout. Mossop and Hock are good pickups for our foward pack but we haven't recruited anywhere near as good as we could have.

Still a hooker and some backrowers short of a finals side imo.

I'm not so sure about that, mate. For season 2014, we have the following players joining us:

* Gareth Hock - British Test player, full of mongrel and insanity; tough as nails and VERY physical.

* Lee Mossop - big motor and strong as an ox; British Test player.

* Corey Norman - heir apparent to Darren Lockyer up in Brisbane, and still only in his early twenties.

* Will Hopoate - Premiership-winning, Origin-playing centre/winger/fullback.

I'm happy to get rid of our dead wood (none of which have the pedigree of any of the aforementioned blokes) and sign a few solid players to strengthen our squad.

I think Hayne is one of the guys under contract who have been told they're free to look elsewhere.

We've got him covered with Hoppa coming and Ricky probably doesn't want all our cap tied up in the backs.

Stop making things up, it's juvenile.

Hayne was told by Ricky that he was a 2nd rower next year, and that's why he's upset.

Things will calm down. Given the debacle of the last three years when we haven't had an NRL squad that is legitimately of first grade standard across the board, there always had to be a movement of players. There really is no good way to tell another person that their services are not required beyond next year. There is no good way of managing that with 12 employees all at once. But it has to happen because three years of running last or next to last is unacceptable. Even when we underperformed in 2008 and 2010 we still had a genuine first grade team and were only ever a few games off to paraphrase Hagan. But from 2011-2013 the team just hasn't been up to it even before we get anywhere near the field. So the players named have to go and and some good players have got to come in. Its a shame for Kelly, Blair and maybe Maitua because if the team was travelling well they probably wouldn't be punted. Hopefully Ben Smith gets a good send off for all his years of hard work.

Surely the whole point of the clean out is to allow us to sign some more players (or at least keep some good youngsters)?

Pete,

Haven't your local heroes in Hay hired player-coaches?

It looks like Sticky's way of stopping the tail wagging the dog is to cut the tail off. We haven't been crap for the last few years just because of who was coaching.

i think hayne has a very valid point .... it appears that people were named infront of a group .... i don't give a f**k who you are or whether those named are shit - it is pretty disrespectful to do that

i think any boss in any job is pretty disrespectful to single out individuals to lose their jobs infront of a group

i have no problem if you tell a group they suck and there will be big changes, heads will roll, etc .... but you then talk to people individually

doesn't sound good to me

Minichiello is echoing what I said earlier in another thread. I think we are a good chance tomorrow night.

Dirty Dozen Will Ensure Eels Have Plenty To Play For, Warns Minichiello
Daniel Lane
June 6, 2013 - 7:13PM

Sydney Roosters skipper Anthony Minichiello warned his team to be braced for a Parramatta side motivated by 12 desperate causes in Friday night's match.

A dozen members of the Eels roster were put on notice by coach Ricky Stuart this week that they weren't in his plans for next year. Minichiello predicted the rejection would motivate Parramatta to perform in front of their home crowd.

"Obviously some people are different, but I know if it was me you'd want to step up and prove [Stuart] wrong or earn that next contract," Minichiello said. "I'm sure a lot of the guys in that team will be doing that.

"It's going to be a tough game, no doubt about it. They've only lost one game at home all year so it is a pretty impressive stat.

"It's going to be a tough game, going out to Parramatta to try and get those two points. With the guys on notice they're going to be hungry and ready to play – and we have to be ready to do the same."

Minichiello said his team had already discarded the memory of their 50-point victory over the Eels earlier this season and he was as equally adamant Stuart would have the team "pumped" despite the mixed feelings that would be in the Eels' ranks.

"[Stuart] is great to play under," he said. "He'll get the boys up. Parra will be ready and we've got to try and match it."

Meanwhile, Minichiello said the experience his halves Mitchell Pearce and James Maloney's gained from playing in the triumphant NSW State of Origin team on Wednesday night would only galvanise the Roosters' premiership campaign.

"Hopefully it gives them a massive boost coming back into club level," he said. "You do come back with confidence especially after a big win like that. Lets hope they can back up on Friday and, if they do, they'll be confident to steer the team around and continue their good form."

Maloney, Pearce and the club's NSW centre Michael Jennings were all expected to play against Parramatta, but Minichiello admitted the trio would be tested.

"It's pretty tough, you're much sorer in the second day [than the following day] from a Wednesday game," he said. "We're not relying on them, we have to give them some enthusiasm to get through the game and I'm sure they will."

Thats the point i was trying to get across. The way Ricky is perceived by his players is important as to whether the remaining players will listen to him.

'Merkins' or not to you lot, they are still people. What if Ben Smith, after nearly a decade of service (good or bad ) was just told, like that, to f**k off infront of the whole playing group.

Better ways to do that.

Hayne is a captain, and earns more than the coach. You have to accept that some players are more important to their organisation than their coaches.

Agree with you Pete but do remember that Jarryd is also a human being who is feeling for his mates. And what he said did not come across disrespectful of Ricky's authority.

If media report is correct, being informed that you're essentially sacked in front of your teammates is harsh. It should've been done individually or within a sub-group.

Sticky is showing everyone that he is ruthless and he wants 100% commitment.
