Hazem El Masri: The games greatest point scoring machine?

It is unbelievable that every year rep season comes around and Hazems name never gets mentioned. Everyone sees him as only a goalkicker but he is one of the most dependable wingers in the NRL. Arguably he is the best kicker in the comp, but it's the rest of his game that people dont realise. He may not run 80 meters to score a try or beat his man on the outside with pace but despite this regularly gets through the defence to score or beats his man to the high ball. In defence he reads the play extremely well and 9 times out of 10 when he comes off his wing he will shut down an attacking raid successfully. He doesnt miss to many tackles and is always there to take a hit up or 2 early in the tackle count.
IMO Haz is the most solid winger in the comp and deserves a lot more recognition

umm I cant remember Lebanon being in the state of origin. Ok he played juniors here blah blah , but he is a true blue lebanese.

PS Luke Covell will beat him in the pointscorers this year. ;-)

Think about this then

Sharks are coming second, Dogs are 11th

Look at this then:
H El Masri (BUL) 7 tries 32 goals, 96 points
L Covell (CRO) 4 tries 30 goals, 76 points

Yeah, Covell will beat El Masri to the top pointscoring position...

Very under appreciated player, if he had more flare/speed in attack he would be the complete winger IMO. He's also a good clubman, great to see.

Ask ppl if they would rather have Haz - or Covell in their side! Given a STRAIGHT choice between the two - and they HAD to take one of them!

I don't think the answer would surprise many people at ALL...outside the shire.! 8)

Points scoring machine?????

How about a bloke who didn't start his Sydney career for 4 seasons after his test debut season, and played for 9 seasons (excluding one lost through injury) and, when tries were worth only 3 points, STILL amassed 1971 points.

In an era of 4 point tries, Mick Cronin would have scored 2077 points, for an average of 9.61. As it stands, his average is 9.125, from an era where points were far harder to come by.

That doesn't include his 22 tests, and the fastest 100 v GB of all time.

Why are you people praising this fool of a rugby league player?

he cant run, he cant catch and he cant defend. sure he is a good goalkicker but he is not the best goalkicker in the nrl!

At the moment Brett Hodgeson from the Wests Tigers is the best goalkicker.

AlexM, does every post you make involve the PREMIERS. It is pretty sad that you have an obsession with us that you find it hard to get over.

http://stats.rleague.com

Go to 2005 first and check out who the top goalkicker is. If that doesn't work http://nrl.com/ then statistics and clicking onto goals and points should prove you wrong.

And then head back to stats.rleague.com and have a look at who the most successful kicker currently in the NRL is. I think you'll find it's Hazem El Masri.

Is AlexM also BBSF too?

El Masri is ok
im my opinion hes a bit overated, and wouldnt make half the NRL sides. Has no real skills to him which is his downfall.
Bulldogs can have him for life

Halligan kicked 433 goals whilst El Masri was in the side, had those 800+ pts fallen to him, he'd be in front of JT by now. But they didn't, so he's not there yet.

What has happened though, in 4 seasons of full kicking responsibilities, he has netted 1160 pts at 290 a season - when for many years the alltime high was 282 - I doubt anyone has come even close to that.
