There has to be some smokeys in that team surely. Head and Cooper would have to be at long odds to start the game

Wow! Even though there were rumours I didn't expect to see Head named. Intriguing...

I hope we are not rushing people back before they are fully fit . An unwise policy if we are .

Saw an interview with Matt Head only two weeks ago, at which time he said in no way would he rush back into first grade until he is completely 100% - and this was thought to be at approx Round 5. Understandable considering he's missed basically half of all games since coming to the Dragons. So what is it..

(a) He's 100% ready to go, 2 weeks earlier than expected
(b) His arm is being twisted

Yep. We've been burnt before with Head, you'd hope they'd be careful. Hope.

hmmm i hope they arent rushing him back, dont see why you would rush him back against the Cowboys anyways, we are pretty much rank outsiders and heck were used to losing the first 4-5 weeks in the competition

I'm going to assume he's OK.

Richard Williams has been demoted to the reserves and there's possibly other reasons for that, but I'm pitching that the glass is half full and Williams has been dropped because there's no room in the firsts for three halves.

Having said that, let's not get too optimistic. Head has a while to go before he'll play himself into any form. I expect him to be underdone but happy to be proven wrong.

Good to see a few regular 1st graders back. The sooner Head gets back into form, the better. Hopefully now the halves can get settled and we'll see a lot more backline movement in attack.

Personally I would have played Head off the bench in Premier League for a couple of more weeks, at least, to test out his knee and general match fitness. The same can probably be said of Poore, actually.

A week, or two in reserves to get him up to speed would have been my choice, after all the young guys aren't doing that badly, and Justin's match fitness would not be 100%.

As for naming Corey Payne in the side, pending his judiciary hearing, I would have looked at other options. I've never been a huge fan of his and to be honest I think he is over-rated. His ball handling is suspect, moreso than most (especially now Ashton has seemed to have worked on his ball security), and in defense he appears to not really do a great deal more than anyone else.

In fact, to be perfectly honest I get nervous every time he replaces another player. I am not saying the guy doesn't try, but don't feel he has gone on with the promise he showed when first coming into the top grade. Some players just happen, while others need to work harder for the results. I feel Corey falls into the second catagory and isn't working as hard as he needs to.

Head will be fine. I heard 4 weeks ago that he would be ready for round 1. For Saints not to play him then they would of done it as a precaution to make sure he was 100%. He started full training 2 months ago and I am sure they would of tested the knee. What a great piece of news that is having him back.
