Headgear/Scrumcap

Interestingly the TV commentators made mention of Louis Anderson's Headgear carrying the Swiss flag. It is of course the Tongan flag.
Tony Martin also has Tana written on his headgear. This is the name of his son and he kisses it whilst running onto the field.
Wairangi Koopu has Maori moko/designs on his headgear - unsure if this is by choice or part of the brand.

Some players used to waer a cross on their wristbrands to signify that they were Christians.
The scrumcap is now more than just protection for the head.

Are there any other players from other clubs doing this or is it just the Warriors?

I really like the individualism it brings. I think Tony Martin was the instigator
some years ago.

I remember Josh Kronfeld back in the mid 90's making a point on his headgear about nuclear weapons or bombs.

Something a bit different.

Yeah, I guess that's the only thing that commentator knows. The rest of the time he talks a bit of random rubbish.
As for the heaq gear stuff; lol I couldn't stop laughing it just sounded so funny. I admit I was Louis Anderson's one and I had giggle. He raelly stood out!

I thought the head gear comment was actually a little bit insensative.

It's poor form to rip on a countries flag, not least of all one so close to both New Zealand and Australia.

As soon as I saw it I thought ti was a gesture to the red-cross, but then seconds later I clicked that it was the Togan Flag. Josh Kronfeld was the fist preson I saw to have a bit of colour oon his headgear with the white stripe on his all blacks one, not sure if he was the first or not however. I think its pretty cool to be honest, makes them easier to identify.

Fancy not knowing the difference between the swiss flag and the Tongan flag...and being on television.

Marto used to wear bright orange headgear with the Storm years ago. I'm not sure what he did at the London Broncos, but when he lobbed in at Ericsson with his psychedelic patterns, Daniel Anderson made him get rid of them and wear something a bit more "normal".

I'm all for it, especially when quite a few of our mob seems to wear them. Makes it much easier to tell them apart in the heat of battle!

I don't think that was intentional, though. I think the commentator genuinely didn't recognise the flag - I didn't at first, either - and was confused, hence the Red Cross/Switzerland comment.

Correct LeagueNut.

Ando asked Martin to change his headgear because otherwise it'd be obvious who was coming where.

I can understand the logics behind it, but to me it adds a bit of individualism to a player.
