The lads massive and he's still got some growth yet.
I hope he doesn't lose his speed and step. Before Christmas is all about strength work and after Christmas it's agilty and team work, as a rule.
In the photo above, you would be forgiven if you said he was a middle, a bit like Kiwi captain James Fisher-Harris.

Looking at his size, he might get the Lomu sidestep working for him haha.

Can only hope he's half as good.

11. HEAMASI MAKASINI WINS ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Heamasi Makasini debuted for the Tigers last season scoring on debut in his one and only game for the club, before returning to finish school.

However, the teenager is expected to break into the Tigers’ team at some point next season and if the team improve their attack as expected, he will get plenty of opportunities to impress and score tries.

Makasini is touted as one of the brightest young prospects in the game and is tipped to be one of the best centres in the NRL in the coming seasons.

But he may have to settle for a spot on the wing early in his career while he gets up to speed, and if the Tigers make the finals next year he will be a leading candidate for Dally M rookie of the year.
-------------
So looking forward to what he brings to the team.

Hey Wiz, long time no see, hope you had a nice Christmas.
Your right about Makasini, he's more of a centre imo and I reckon if injury prone To'a is out he'll play more NRL.
To be fair, Skelton and Turuva will get the wing spots but they'll now know that someone is breathing down their necks, especially Skelton as that's the side that Maka plays on.

I see him as a centre , so as such id rather see him carve up in 2nd grade learning his position then be played on the wing in nrl potentially losing confidence in what is a totaly different position to learn .
Toa is so hit and miss his spot is up for grabs at some point in 2026.

TIGERS — Heamasi Makasini

Out of all the players on this list, it’s hard to find one who is being spruiked more than the exciting teenager Heamasi Makasini.

The 18-year-old outside back fielded interest from a Japanese rugby franchise as well as the NSW Waratahs, but he decided to stay with the Tigers.

He made his debut against the Titans in the final round of last season and acquitted himself very nicely, scoring a try and running for 150 metres from 19 hit-ups.

The Tigers have several promising players on their roster, but Makasini might just be the most exciting.

There is plenty of competition for spots in the Tigers backline, but we have a feeling we’ll be seeing the teen sensation in first grade concistently sooner rather than later.

From what I've seen macca, he was better at centre during pathways than wing.
To'a has played wing so if Skelton's form drops off or is injured then To'a could play wing and Makasini could play centre.
I think To'a and Makasini play different sides however wing and centre are different positions.
A centre has a dominant hand but a wing is more catch and score.... hopefully 😁

Unless there was some sort of 2014 style injury crisis, I'd be leaving him there all year too. No sense rushing him into firsts when we have plenty of depth.
I bet my left eyeball that Benji won't do that though.
The fact he debuted well has him in the box seat to play again.....at some time during the season.
The way I see it, reserves and firsts are tougher than pathways. He'll learn in both the top grades, the only difference is in the NRL there is more at stake.
The trend now is we get the guys right for firsts then they leave. I'd rather see him play at least 3-4 with us in the NRL starting now.
