Not really. It's basically manga which is the Japanese word for comics. Watch the cartoons on of a morning now days and you'll see they are trying to appeal a little more to the 8-14 age group and not just the little kids.

I can't watch cartoons as I am at work by 7am every morning.
It is still a pathetic attaempt at a mascot IMO and it looks like most people on here think so to, good thing I'm not 8-14 then hey? ;-)

from a Manga perspective they are all pretty good looking except the Eels and Penrith ones. I really like the Storm one. (btw I am a Manga fan)

It is an eccentric taste for westerners, and is hard to palette for those who aren't into "Anime" style graphics.

haven't read through the whole thread, so apologies if all of these have been suggested.

if it's supposed to be a manga attempt:

1. Unagi (Japanese for Eel)
2. Teriyaki (similar reason to 1, it's usually served in this sauce and we know that we're all a big fan of sauces around here)
3. Veriyaki (slight modification to 2 as "the thing" is frickin' ugly)
4. Mango (as in manga gone wrong and it's also short for "Man, go and kill that thing")
