lol no one will ever leave the raiders on good terms with the fans.

some of you guys are so precious. henry has been given more money and a longer contract at the cowboys and gets the chance to build a team around the best player in the world. I don't blame him for going. clubs never show loyalty to coaches so why should they show any to the club.
Good to see a few Raider fans have abit of perspective!

I have been a Raiders fan for 26 years. I don't blame the Cowboys fans. Not keen on the Management for the way they have gone about there business but I'm sure our club would have talked to players and coaches in the past who were still on Contract. It's a part of the game. Congrats to the Cowboys if Henry ends up there. He is a descent coach.

On Henry with out knowing the full story I think it's rather low to be in the media saying he had every intention to stay. Even a few weeks ago he appeared to be getting annoyed with the speculation and having to reaffirm his contract. To be talking up the history of the club and the fact it's his home and to be asking players to be loyal and then walk is very hypocritical.

I was hoping the Raiders would make him stay for the club and the game. People are not taking there contract seriously and I hope it doesn't continue to grow. the game doesn't need it.

Personally I think Henrys backed the wrong horse here, Cowboys arent going to get any better the next few years while the Raiders have got some good youg talent coming through and are on the way up.

So the Raiders management outsmarted themselves eh!!

Why would you sign a coach to a 3 yr contract yet insert a clause that either party could exit giving 3 mths notice after 1 yr?

You do that because you aint cashed up and wouldn't like to have to pay out a coach who didn't aim up. This way after a yr at any stage there after if he isn't the goods you can give him notice, punt him and not have a pay out.

Funny how if the guy does work out you have in fact given him an exit clause.

Henry's leaving because there is 5 yrs of security (and I bet there won't be an exit clause in this contract, lol) at much much higher income (the additional difference over the 5 yrs said to be between $350k and $450k. He's also going to a club that spends their full cap on the player market.

As Mongoose correctly pointed out above there is no loyalty in the game today, in any direction.

From what I understand Henry has been nothing but genuine, open and honesty with Don Furner through the last few weeks. He did want to stay and was looking for an extension that was at least similar to what was on offer. But the Raiders were only prepared to offer a 2 yr extension, at a lot less, and weren't prepared to move much.

If you've spent 15 yrs coaching, working your way up the ranks with your own family and work security longer term to consider and you have to weigh up the significant difference in deals then I think Henry's handling of this can be understood.

Well put.
Clearly Neil didn't want to be apart of some 'handing of the torch' and rightfully so. Look for Dave Furner to get an extension on his deal to the afterlife.

I think as a whole raider's fans have got every right to be bitter about the situation given the way he has conducted himself since these rumours first surfaced, continually denying them publicly. saying he was committed, blah f**king blah

Look out for the "NEIL WHO?" sign to make an appearance at this weekends game against the titans

Hey Victor, maybe you should change your Avi to have Henry's head:lol:

And with you.
Real classy, you're just sad really I pity you.
I'm not the one that goes back on my word in the way Henry has done. If you think that is worth pity then you have different standards to mine. And for the record I'm far from sad with the final outcome of this episode.

Fact is I think the way your senior players have behaved this year regarding your current coach is spineless and pathetic. I suggest you save your pity for them.

It's so easy to from the outside looking in,and the reality is you have no f**king idea except the preconceived notions influenced by the media.

I'm aware of how Henry and Cowboys management has acted but that has nothing to do with the players or the fans and it's pretty poor form to wish bad karma because you can't be mature about things.

Dude, I didn't say one word about the Cowboys fans.

Blind freddy can see for himself that some of your players aren't putting in and there has been a major communication breakdown between them and your coach - so I have a pretty f***ing good idea of what I can see with my own eyes. If you're in denial of that then there's not much more I can say really.

I realise that, but you have said and I quote 'Bunch of gutless turds'.
There is a reason why they are playing the way they are and it has to doing with dramas inside the club.

So,you can basically see most Cows fans are just as p*ssed off with their management as Raiders fans because this whole situation could have been treated much better.

Well all I'm going to say is that the Raiders have put up with a hell of a lot more crap with their management, media and coaches in the last 7 or so years than any other club.

Through it all I'm proud to say the players almost always turned up to give it their all on the field which is (ironically) more than I can say for the *cough* cowboys *cough* panthers. Don't think for a second that 99% of Raiders fans aren't a little pleased with the predicament Matt Elliott is in right now.

It's shameful the way many clubs are run, but these clowns (players and coaches included) are meant to be highly paid professionals and more than a fair share of them treat the lifeblood of this game...the fans...like me and you....with disdain.

I sure as hell don't wish Henry any level of success when he finally leaves my club and I don't apologise for that one little bit. It's nothing personal against you or any other cowboy fan.

Raiders fans can take some solace in the fact henry lied to Carney, otherwise both might have been lost.
Still poor form from him,I thought he was better than that.
