8. George Burgess

9. Robbie Farah

10. Robbie Rochow

11. John Sutton

12. Kyle Turner

13. Sam Burgess

OTHERS: Damien Cook, Tyrell Fuimaono, Connor Tracey, Luke Kelly, Anthony Cherrington, Robert Jennings, Brett Greinke, Braidon Burns, Jack Gosiewski, Dane Nielsen, David Tyrrell

Interesting take on Souths side.

Not the front row id start with at all. Rochow would be out musgrove and tom start, George on the bench and I wouldn't be surprised if cherrington or fuimano turn up on the bench,

Burns and/or Jennings will crack the backline too

Well I am.
I thinkRochow is a good enough player--he's just not going to go the distance physically!! He's an accident going somewhere to happen;unfortunately!!!!!

Cherrington's been playing Qld Cup for the past few seasons----he has ability but does he have the will & determination?????????????
Young players,in general, have to be extraordinary to waltz into a new club & take the world by storm.

I can't really pick one with confidence from the younguns!!

The best of the young group is Cam Murray but he's only just turning 19!!
Farah must be in the side & Goodwin will get the nod on experience alone!

Clarke will probably earn his spot too!

Yes Doyen Rochow is an accident waiting to happen it seems. He needs a lucky break we have to hope.

Does Cherrington have the concentration too. Is his defence up to it????

Will his body handle the harder hits and how fast the jump is up from QLD Cup???

Jennings well PENRITH weren't concerned losing him were they Doyen???? So Jennings just have some deficiencies. PENRITH obviously didn't think he's up for it.

I'm excited re Murray too. At 90kg he's too light for first grade yet. I'd expect him to come on in leaps and bounds in 2018.

You are correct re Goodwin, Farah and Clark. They are all important for us.

The younger ones will have to show some consistency at Norths I feel Doyen.

Why is Farah a must?
Gray and Hunt formed a good partnership in the centres at the back end, only place open will be the wing imo and Goodwin is a terrible winger.

Clark is not a prop which is where Madge likes to play him

Farah is a must because I'm not convinced the alternative could hack it on a week to week basis!!!

Farah is obviously a few classes above Cook so,if possible,we require him to be an 80 min.performer.

Hopefully Cook will be at the BEARS & we won't need him at all!!

I'm not a great fan of Gray either but I think he's a better fit at centre if he must be there!

I'm just hoping that some of the newcomers give us a pleasant surprise during the trials & we can be a bit creative with our selections! I think Burns ended up with us on GI's recommendation--he has mentored him for some time now! Maybe there's a budding combo there.

I'm a fan of Cook Doyen. He's a good player. Very energetic with quick hands and can turn the pace on when needed. He knows how to give direction and get the forwards going forward.

On Gray I want him to be more consistent.

Cook is better suited to the side imo he is in that same playing type as a Isaac or a API fast around the play the ball. Farah on the other hand is a set back wards his form at the back end of last year wasn't great and I've heard stories from a old ex teammate of Farah who is one of my mates that Farah was a bad egg and had a massive ego off field and on.

Gray position of choice is centre and it showed at the back end of the year how good he is and how well the combo of Hunt and Gray did together, putting Goodwin on the wing is a stupid idea and anyone knows who has watched him in that position over the years how terrible he is marking in defence by rushing out of the line and how shocking he is under the high ball. You have to have rocks in your head to think he makes a good winger.

Cook is no where near a similar player to Luke. They are almost polar opposites.
Luke isn't that fast. If you lined up all the hookers for a 20m dash he'd probably finish mid-field. The reason Luke appears fast is because he is the best hooker in the game in knowing when to run. And when he did, he ran with conviction. He'd run to run over people and get a fast play the ball, or he'd run to break tackles and/or get offloads.
Cook is completely different. He may be the fastest hooker in the game. But it's not something he uses to good effect. Often when he runs he seems to just do it for the sake of taking a run. He'll make a quick 5 metres then think 'shit what do i do now'. This often leads to him panicking throwing the ball to unsuspecting players. It's frustrating to see when he does make quick metres out of dummy half he hasn't got the conviction to go through with it. It's almost like he is afraid to get tackledsometimes. On the rare occasions he does go through with a run he is effective, he'll draw penalties or get a quick play the ball. Unfortunately that only happens about 1 in 10 runs.
The difference in defence between cook and Luke is dramatic. Luke earnt his nickname Bully. Despite his size he was an enforcer. He didn't hesitate to chuck himself into tackles like a pitbull , usually getting dominate tackles. Cook gets run over, rag dolled. When teammates are struggling in a tackle he hesitates to help out.
The player who was most like Luke, and you'll think i'm crazy for saying it, was Mcinnes.
His defence was the same. He had the same pitbull like defence, never hesitating to put his head where most people wouldn't put their feet. He was one of the few people i saw stop taumololo dead in his tracks in a 1 on 1 tackle last year.
His running was similar to Luke. When he ran he knew what he was doing. He'd run to get fast play the balls or to run over people for offloads. The thing Luke had over him was that he had a better understanding when to run. That's why I was a bit Dissapointed he was let go, with a bit of time and patience he could have developed a better sense of when to run and improves his service out of dummy half. But obviously with all that's going on at the club I don't think maguire jad the time to have patience with a player and take the time to develop. In a way Maguire needs immideate results which is why i think we've gone for farah.

For all his so-called speed Cook ran no further with the ball on average than McInnes.

This speedy runner made ZERO line breaks in over 14 hrs on the field---McInnes made 5.

This speedy player didn't cross the line once--McInnes scored 5 tenacious tries!!

When Cook finally had a chance to score he bombed a sitter.

I don't really think he has the strength or heart to complete a long, tough NRL season in the engine-room & this is why he has spent the huge bulk of his career in the NSW Cup!!!!
As I said;I hope Farah can play 80 mins & we are able to play another forward.

I disagree on Bryson completely.

I've seen a lot of him on the wing too. Yes he did have a deficiency under the high ball but that has improved and I am now confident when he has to catch bombs.

Bryson also when the centre rushes in that means he has to come in and try and make a ball and all tackle or try and knock the ball down. Bryson saves a lot of tries on the wing actually.

He is better at centre but he does the job well on the wing. He does lots of work getting out of our own end too.

Of course you're going to say that, your his number one fan just look at your profile picture on here.

Some of Goodwin worst performance last year was when he was on the wing. Plan and simple he is not good enough to be a first grade winger just like Tyrell is not good enough to be a first grade prop.

High balls are his main issue and rushing out defence is another one. Let in a lot of try's doing just that over the years. Yes when he gets his name he looks good but when he misses it make the club look bad.

You are being way over the top imo.

I completely disagree on this one.

Goodwin's defense was alright most of the time when he played in the centres in 2016.
