Big problems for Mr Gallop coming up I hope.

The source further made the extraordinary claim that Mr Gallop told Mr Waldron a moratorium was not an option because if extensive details came out about breaches in the salary cap it would be too damaging to the sport's reputation.

And I hope that's the quote that will finish him off in time.

Still, I want answers in regards to the Fox Sports contract with Cameron Smith. Did Mr Gallop and his audit team know nothing about that as well? They never seemed to know a lot.

Waldron's word is worth less than nothing

when he started cheating the salary cap and lying about it

That is what courts of law exist for, to sort the truth from the lies. I suspect that all of us have told lies from time to time - if we all told the truth all the time there would be little need for courts of law.

Incidentally, when did Waldron lie about cheating (or rather, not cheating) the salary cap?

on the sunday footy show they showed footage of him in 2007 speaking on the show about how he supported the salary cap and it had helped the game given the outcomes of last thursday those statements are now proven to be bald faced lies
also im not 100% on the details but the nrl and news limited have been given statuatory declarations from the storm that their contracts and payments are under the cap given his position im assuming waldron authorised these

This is all going to get very interesting, a lot will depend on the corporate structures involved as to who is actually responsible for what. It is impossible for me to believe that News Limited (or some of their employees) did not know what was going on. After all, it was their money being spent, one way or the other, and News Limited's reputation on the line if anything questionable was being done.

If I had been Waldron, I would have been making damned certain that any rorts were signed off at the level below, without my knowledge or authority. Ditto for News Limited's representatives on the various companies or whatever involved in running the Storm.

But that's not my point. If the 9th placed team has played the Melbourne Storm twice, and lost twice. And the 8th placed team has played the Melbourne Storm once, say when they decide to rest players, and won, you're left in a situation where Melbourne Storm are affecting the competition. And for the example I'm making, say it's down to points difference. The "illegal team" stopping others from progressing is good, is it?

The only meaningful point you've raised and it's one I previously raised in another thread in reply to your ranting.

The answer is they become further victims of the Storm cheats. No way to avoid this given the draw had been drawn up and the Storm had already played games.

If you kick them out of the season (the next best option) and count the games as byes and hand out 2 points the teams disadvantaged by having to play the Storm twice would be advantaged by 2 byes.

If you let them bring themselves under the cap and play, the teams who have already played them are disadvantaged by having to play the cheat squad, as well as the rest of the field by having to play a team formed under illegal conditions.

It's not pretty, but it's the best possible solution of every possible solution put forth.

The NRL's auditors, New's Auditors, an external Auditor (deloitt) and Ian Schuburt failed to pick it up. But then you know better than them I guess
