Given our bogey teams, Manly ans St george , have beaten us away from home, then I am feeling a little more confident in our chances this year. Our opening draw has been a tricky one and highlighted the plain obvious. That being until we win on the road we are not contenders. We are essentially the Raiders mark 2 until we change that. Making home our fortress is still where we cannot falter. An undefeated home season would be great. Massive ask all the same for anyone with the exception of Melbourne.

Fully agree and I reckon we are a real chance of scraping into 8th place this year.

Go the knights ! drop da Costigan and roll da Penruff Panfers

BJ is good, I'm not concerned. Lacking match fitness, but he is a decent enough quality centre.

Buderus out for 8 weeks. Back injury worse than first thought. Undergoing more surgery.

Faaaaaark! That's terrible news. I guess the only good thing to come out of it is that he will hopefully be relatively fresh when the end of the year comes around. Massive blow!

Wow, huge blow!!!

I hope Waddell plays, he had a super effort in round 1, I watched that game many times and he made many crucial tackles.

As I said earlier in the week, Buderus out, Waddell in. BJ in with McKinnon to the bench. Costigan gone. It's now finally been confirmed.

Waddell's defence has always been superb. I'm happy to have him back in the side.

Gids to play 80min at hooker with Waddell dropping off the bench

Looks like Nev gets yet another chance

The worst thing about this (other than losing Bedsy) is that it pretty much assures Costigan a spot for the next 8 weeks. Gids has become too injury prone for Wayne to play him 80 or not carry a potential backup hooker. Hopefully Waddell stays fit and plays out of his skin to keep Nev out.

I expected this was worse for Bedsy.
Reckon this will end his career. 8 more weeks out, his last season, the need to get match fit again. I'd expect if he comes back it will only be off the bench for short stints.
He'll still be incredibly useful grooming someone in the Hooker role.

We're not going to fly Waddell down and make him train with the team for the entire week just to send him back on game day. He will play off the bench and Costigan is gone.

Brett Keeble just said Costigan is dropped too.
