hi all, its been monthhhhsss since ive seen this forum, well before the game was released and i havent got it yet as ive had strained finances, i got up the money to buy it but couldnt help but buy cricket 2004 (GREAT GAME!!!! when patched), anywayz now ive got the 90 bucks up to buy league, im 99% gonna buy it but i still have some doubt... im concerned about the amount of bugs ive read about tonight, can someone answer me how bad the kick off bug is? like i know human players can control it by kicking off straight but how often does the AI kick it out off the kick off? that sounded rather concerning...

can some of you please let me know in a 100% non biased way if its worth buying for $89.95 or should i go wif something like battlefied vietnam...

dont get me wrong i LOVE league and waited and talked about the league game for as long as you have back in the old rleague forum days, but this bug list im reading has me worried...

any advice would be much appreciated as ill prolly decide based on the replies.. thanks

i wouldnt spend my time modding if it wasnt worth playing.

the computer AI has a nasty habit of doing some annoying tricks to score quick tries, the kick off into touch is one as well as the short kick off it sometimes does whihc puts your player offside and you can do nothnig about. the worse thing about this short kick off the AI does is that i have found no way to do it myself.

If you're buying the PC version, I'd recommend the game for sure, the kickoff bug may occur once every five or six games, some teams are more adept at it than others, but it really is only a minor thing, but it can hurt some games. If it happens off the opening kickoff I just restart the game, and if you can master it, simply use it whenever the AI does it to you. Its not a big deal, none of the bugs really are, sure they'll pop up now and then, and in 2 player games if you're playing someone not as familiar with the game they can get the shits with it, but really there are no issues in this game that make it unplayable, I find it a blast, and while the PS2 version I find is rather poor, the PC is brilliant, patches, updated jerseys and the soon to be released international and unleashed patches (not to mention my own works, plug plug), make it a pretty damn good game.

Some of the old timers from the old forums can't stand the game (Eel and King are the most vocal) and I'm sure a lot more have lost interest, but I personally still play the game more than most of my other games, so it has to have something going for it!

And if you think Cricket 2004 is a great game, well mate, Rugby League is God's gift to gamers by comparison!

thanks for the replies guys,
yeah cricket 2004 was pathetic at first release but the AI and stroke play patches fixed it up quick smart (cept for the run out bug..) and its sweet now, i would'nt buy rugby league for ps2 but seeing as my pc is of high quality ill buy it for that, patches :D ..

anyway thanks again!

By the PC version.... but in all honesty I'd wait till the patches these guys are working on first. If they get something out in the next month. Which we won;t know yet.

UIn the meantime I'd buy another game...there are just too many little bugs. Not that whatever your new game won;t have any either but go for something you are sure you will like.

If you buy PC version you'll prolly need to buy the game pad converter

Keyboard is great. One day I'll get the PS2 connection though to help with 2 player games

If I was buying again, I'd buy off ebay. The PC version has not been going for much.

The best (cheapest) way to buy games!!!! (but ask questions on condition)

spend 89 dollars on a pair of boots and go and have a real game of league instead of being a wanna be player who gets his thrills from playing a girly computer game

Ive never used a controller, Ive always had to settle for the keyboard. And it does me fine.

I find im playing the game more and more thanks to the patches, the only thing that irritates me now is the occasional crash on fulltime back to windows (and for some reason my screen changes resolution when its back in windows, not sure why?) when im playing a customised season.

But, yeh, but it.
