SUNDAY'S performance against Souths showed what everyone has been saying about the NRL for a long time - it is so close and so competitive that if one team is a little down, they will be punished. We were a little down with our attitude in defence and had 49 points put past us.
I can't remember playing a game where we scored 26 points and were still comfortably beaten, but such is life in the NRL. There was no way we were complacent heading into the game - we knew how hard they would be to beat and how enthusiastic they would be. But we just couldn't get ourselves out of the rut we created by a poor attitude in defence - and once they started to play with a bit of confidence and a bit of momentum, they were virtually impossible to stop.
It is with great pleasure that we return home this week. Playing in front of a big crowd at Parramatta Stadium is always a big boost, but we cannot, and will not, rely on that to get us home. We simply have to stack the entire 80 minutes with a same attitude with which we approach the first minute - it is that sort of enthusiasm that will be required against a team that has the ability to put plenty of points on the scoreboard.

Good to see that everyone is saying the attitude will be better. With any luck all this talk about better attitude will convert to a better performance on the field.

I noticed that most Shark supporters would be happy to compete with us, I tell you what I'd be bloody happy to compete with them at this stage.

If it was the odd occasion fair enough but how many of these player post mortems on attitude are we going to have before it finally sinks in that it's needed EVERY week. It's becoming chronic!

yeah! I agree it seems as though those that wear Blue and White jerseys as well as red, white and blue jerseys. don't have that problem.

It just annoys me reading of players having these "attitude" post mortems after the game all the time. If they gave it as much thought before the bloody game instead of always after it then the post mortems wouldn't be necessary would they. :(

Not all clubs play their best each game they all have surprise losses.

the Roosters lost the the Panthers a couple of times back in 2001-2002 when Penrith were finshing at the bottom of the ladder.

The Dogs lost 32-0 to Canberra in 2002 (I think) when they only lost 4 games and Canberra only won about the same.

correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the dogs lose 32-0 against the Raiders 4 days after getting all their points stripped??

From memory we have always started pretty badly under Brian Smith. Even in 2001 we flogged the Panthers , then got beaten by cronulla and the Raiders in the first 5 rounds.....the problem with the last 2 seasons is that we have been mediocre beyond the early rounds :)

At least this season there is the excuse that the team needs to "gel", a term used by Brian Smith already :)

I am thinking positive, telling myself that North QLD won one of their first 7 games last year........ :)
