In today's Big League.

Nathan Hindmarsh reiterates his that he won't be leaving Parramatta and Adam Dykes tells that Brian Smith has asked him to radically change his playing style.

Hindy said:
I honestly don't know where all this is coming from - Its BULLSHIT!

Hindy said:
I'm 100 per cent Brian, there's no dramas between me and him at all

Brian is a very good coach, but there's only so much he can do. He can give us everything under the sun - tips, game plans, all that, but once we cross that while line it's up to the players

Hindmarsh. He has more character than to seek a release becasue things aren't going well.

Dykes. Perhaps the change to his playing style is being told to run forward, not sideways

These rumours must surely annoy players when they hear about them. Good to hear it confirmed that Hindy wants to stay at Parramatta, he is the heart and the soul of the club.

I wonder why we persist with Dykesy?

Now, I like the guy - he can play.

But he runs sideways and into holes, looking for runners; that is the way he plays.

Yet there are never any runners, thus rendering his game useless.

Well should we cut the guy trying to put ppl into holes or the lazy buggers who don't run into them?

I am not a Dykes fan because of his defensive lapses, but at least he's trying something in attack (well some of the time - he has a few brain explosions, but then most our team do that these days).

I understand what you mean.

But all this time he has had no runners, and now Brian is telling him to radically overhaul his gaming style.

I think it would have been simpler to just tell the boys (especially the backs) to watch him and back him.

RE: the brain explosions, they are normally out of frustration. He can see we're in trouble, so he tries something hard. Whether it works or not is always a 50-50 chance.

I agree with Strider.

As there are never any runners, why is this Dyke's fault? Is this, in fact, a coaching problem?

Dykes is a class act. He is searching for answers, but not getting support from his supposed ball runners, who are, more often than not, just not there.

I like the guy.

What I meant was if the coach tells him to change his game; he seems reluctant to change his outside backs too much; and we have no supporting runners

THEN WHY does he persist with Dykes?

It's hard to explain. I guess the point of the argument is:

1. If the coach won't change the backs;

2. If the coach instructs the 5/8 to change his game;

the naturally it would be easier to instruct the players to change THEIR games to support Dykes?

But he's dropped Adam and not too many of the backs?

I just want to see someone running off Dykes.

People bag him and say he's crap - well, that's because the space and gaps he creates are not backed up by his teammates.

We had players looking to run onto the ball last week - Graham and McKinnon in particular but there wasn't anyone to run off. Catch 22.....

Well, hopefully now we'll do better.

A 5/8 who creates and goes looking for space.

Players to back him up.

It's coming along nicely.

Which is not neccessarily Witt or Thormans fault.

Doesn't that then come back to patterns of play and game plans??

If it does, that again leads us to one person???
