Hitman: Absolution

I doubt the below cover will be the actual cover of the game as the image in the top left is used in Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. This will be the 5th game in the series and I'm licking my lips about it. It looks like it will be one of the best year. We're still a good few months (at least) away from release as it's schedule to be released in 2012. It was originally meant to be released in December, however I think complications have since risen as this game is meant to tie in with the movie sequels release.

For this new game, the following information has been confirmed:

-David Bateson will not be voicing Agent 47.
-Agent 47's handler, Diana Burnwood, has a "close relationship" with 47 in Absolution.
-The main antagonist is revealed to be Blake Dexter, a new character to the series. The character will be voiced by Keith Carradine.
-It has been confirmed by the developers that the game is only going to be set in the United States, with one portion taking place in Chicago. Other locations are unconfirmed.
-The game will be released around 2012.
-Players will be able to set up elaborate traps.
-A new mode, called "Instinct," works much like the detective mode in Batman: Arkham Asylum. It is powered by a bar that works similarly to Sam Fisher’s "Mark and Execute" feature in Splinter Cell: Conviction as it is fueled by silent take-downs.
-There is no map screen. Instinct mode replaces it.
-Players will no longer be able to manually save the game.
-Players will be able to utilize a "tag and kill" mechanism during Instinct mode that is similar to the one in Red Dead Redemption.
-The game will feature some scripted action sequences and smaller sandbox levels that are divided by checkpoints.
-The original soundtrack for the game is composed by Peter Kyd and Peter Peter, replacing the long time composer Jesper Kyd.

I reckon instinct mode will be awesome. The game has long-needed something like this :D

should be good, I was impressed with the short showing at e3... couldnt help but laugh as the devs used the word superpowers and then proceded to list them as simply blending in as a doctor or police officer when in uniform lol...

Superheros are getting lamer these days...

I hope they don't change the old formula too much, I loved the sandbox style of the Hitman games, go in - work out a plan - execute the target, occasionally go on a rampage trying to kill everybody in the entire level.

Yeah but how discouraging is it when you get so far in a certain stage and a little slip up stuff everything up for you! At least this way with a checkpoint you don't have to start all over again. This feature is in Splinter Cell Conviction which I'm currently playing and I must say, I LOVE IT! It would be an absolutely killer (excuse he pun) if you have to try and work out how to pass a certain point 5 or 6 different times but start the mission all over again instead of from a recent checkpoint.

Agree! If there's only one minor thing I can think of that I'm not 100% happy with, it's the fact that the entire game is set in America. I wouldn't mind more in Europe!

Pre-Ordered this looks absolutely killer. March 2011 according to my mate who is a head manager at Game HQ. Already had a killer number of Pre-Orders.

March has come and gone, and its still not out? Guess a head manager's word isn't worth much. :sarcasm:

Your link didn't work, but this one does;

Holy shit it looks good! Never played a Hitman game but never heard anything bad about them. Love the Inception music at the end too :D

lol thanks for the save Jono...

I will admit I loved the original Hitman series but when this was announced and previewed t E3 I kind of thought it seems like a Batman and Splinter Cell Conviction clone... but after watching some of the production value in that demo its become an instant purchase.

That was very Rockstar like but what blew me away was the less emphasis on out and out action and more so about atmosphere.

Brilliant really...

It's a definate BUY from me.

Love the Hitman games and I've completed every one without getting bored. Love the way you can complete levels in different ways. To do a perfect silent kill on a level is absolute gold. If I've done a level which resulted in all guns blazing chaos I feel 'dirty'.

I'm getting it no doubt, I can't wait.

Sometimes I like to go all guns blazing just when I'm mucking around, but I like to finish the missions perfectly and get a SA ranking when I play it properly the first time.
