As far as I am concerned, this is probably about the most anticipated game in the history of rugby league and I am looking forward to it for sure.
As far as I am concerned, Dave acted entirley appropriately to the life threatening situation he was faced with. We got the penalty didnt we? Not you sorry lot...us.
And people usually get penalised for unfair and illegal play. Thus did Anasta.
Later, the judiciary erred in their judgment because they wanted to make an example of him. It was an apalling decision that ignored evidence from highly qualified medical professionals who actually know something. The decision reflected the stupidity, bias, ignorance and prejudice of the NRL judiciary and thoe who wrongfully prosecuted poor Dave.
This is why people with fine legal minds such as Chris Murphy want nothing to do with Rugby League anymore. Because they are dealing with people who are blind to justice.
I was pretty close to the incident, it was one of the worst things Ive seen in the game and quite frankly, Anasta and the Roosters need to be punished for it to discourage them from bringing the game into further disrepute.
As for the Roosters in 2008:-
1. Willie will clock off once interest in him starts to fade Round 3
2. Shrek has been deteriorating as a player for awhile now.
Apart from that, the rest of the forwards are standard.
With a couple of exceptions, the backs look very very pedestrian, the halves look sluggish and the depth is shallower than Lake Illawarra when the tide is out.
And without good depth you cant go anywhere because you have to budget for injuries ( and suspensions!) so you are down 3 to 4 players on average per season before you start and you ahve to be able to cover them.
Freddy has proved to be a good coach so far but the honeymoon is now over.
The mascot, he's a good bloke, but it wont be enough.
The Roosters could prove me wrong, thats Ok by me, but at the moment, the prognosis is poor.
In my view, they need another 4 or 5 solid players to reach the glittering lights of the finals series.
Souths are a lot stronger than the Roosters at the moment and its looking like we will be for some time to come because our front office, marketing, recruitment and admin are way ahead and getting further away. Just visit our website souths.com.au in the new beta format to get an idea. Its not half finished either.
Even the NRL itself has come to Souths, cap in hand, seeking our opinion on marketing and business matters.
Its now our turn as fans for another Souths era.
A new day has dawned it will be bright, long and filled with great happiness.
So bend over , kiss our tails and pay homage to your betters!
