hahaha Hodges was the reason the broncos went so well??
he is a good player now, thats for sure but to say it was him that got them there is laughable.

You have no bloody idea
Lockyer himself even said after last night's game, he thought Hodges was one of the main reason for the Broncos success this year.
Hit yourself with an upper slap, you girl

No sh*t. You don't really need to be a speed machine to play halfback either.

One on one, Gasnier would kill Hodges for pace.

You have no clue, you dumb mofo :p
You may as well say Leon Bott is a better player than Gasnier cause he's faster.
All round, Hodges eats Gasnier up like your mum ate your dad's c0ck on their honeymoon.
Get a FKing clue

ahahahhaha oh well if his captain says something positive about his performance it must be true!

Like i said, hodges is definatly a good player and probably in the top 3 centres in the game, definatly the broncos best centre but to say that it was HIM that lead the broncos to the title is ridiculous and insulting to the rest of the broncos team.

oh and nice comeback calling me a girl, got me a beauty.

One on one Matt Reick would kill them both for pace. Does that make him better then them both? Personally I couldnt split them atm. I think Hodges defence is better then Gasniers and Gaz may just slightly edge Hodges in attack.

I didn’t say it was just Hodges on his own that led the Broncos to the title.
However, he was the key to the success of Broncos this year.
Yes, even more than Lockyer.
Everyone knows how good Lockyer is, but Hodges took the next step.
It was his switch to fullback which sparked the Broncos season again..
If you can't see that, then you need to stop tossing over Ian Roberts.

I think Hodges is a great player. I was wondering if ppl think he is playing better at fullback than at centre? Which leads to my next question. Should he be the next Aus fullback?

Over the last year or so Hodges has been the best outside back in the world. He should be third player picked for Australia after Locky and Petro.

I'd imagine Hindmarsh, Buderus (if fit), Smith and a few others would hold preference over Hodgo at the moment.

It's unfortunate for Hodges that there are alot of good backs going around at the moment. Plus i think his pastand Stuart are not helping his cause. I hope he makes the 17

Hodges is powerful yes, but is too slow to be considered a better centre than Gasnier. Gasnier's footwork is magic.

And didn't hodges let in a 40/20 on the last tackle last night?? That is proof that he's a bit slow.

Wasn't it hodges who tackled Slater after he made the break?

Wasn't it Hodges who has scored a few 80 odd metre tries this year?

You don't do that if your slow.

I'm pretty sure that Hodges also got to Inglis first when he made his break, Just because he looks slow doesn't mean it's so. He is deceptively quick.

Hodges? Slow? WTF?

He didn't look slow when he sliced through the Bulldogs' defence to set up Berrigan's try a few weeks back.

But as for the best player in the world tag...Nah.

Best centre? Ooooh....Touchy.

DEFINITELY a class player, though.

Of course he was. Hodges was huge in our success, it was really his move to fullback that sparked the reinvention of our attack in the back end of the season. Along with Lockyer, Berrigan and Civoniceva he was one of the main reasons we won the comp.

good that u mentioned petro, but add Thorn to that list and youve pretty much got it spot on. Hodges, Locky, Berrag & Sterrigan (because without Stagg the berrigan move to the 9 would not be feasable), Civo and Thorn IMO were the reason that Broncos are the Premiers of 06.

as per the original title. i have to agree with someone else in this thread, its hard to determine te BEST player due to all the positions etc. E.g. i am a HUGE locky fan, but atm i would say (out of the broncs) petro is a better player than locky mainly due to his performance over this season for the broncs (bias maybe, but i think petro performed awesomely.) But then again it is hard to compare halves to backs to forwards etc.

IMO hodges is without doubt the equal best centre atm W/ Inglis & Lyon. As per fullbacks Hodges is up there with Slater, Hodgson, Patten etc.

Hodges has been a revelation because of his greatness in 1 positions, but I am not entirely convinced of him at fullback yet. If i was the Aussie selectors, i would have Hodges and Inglis as my Centres, with Slater at FB.

If Gasnier is so good, then why hasn't he won a premiership for the Dragons yet? Hodges was the driving force behind the Broncos success this year.
LOL!

that's your criteria is it?

i guess steve roach, steve rogers, wayne pearce, e.t., benny elias, paul macgregor, you know - all the rep players that never won a comp, weren't that good after all.

great logic mr kitchen.

Hodges has been unbeatable in attack from fullback this year and no one can deny that, but his defence and ball return from that right wing still needs some work. He wouldn't be my choice at fullback for the Australian squad as I'm sure the GB and NZ coaches are just itching to have a kick sent down to that corner for him. But at his current form, he needs to be in that team at centre. Just purely for his ability to make breaks in attack and work with Lockyer, and his good scrambling cover defence.

Name me 1 game, 1 game, any game that Hodges has lost for the Broncos in the last 2 years. I'll wait, no doubt though I'll be waiting forever as you won't find one. How long does Hodges have to carry the stigma of his days at the Roosters and 1 bloody Origin match? Lockyer lost the match single-handedly for Aus on his debut, do you want to question his ability while we're at it?
