Rumoured Team (i haven't checked if anyone else has posted it)

1. Jarryd Hayne
2. Brett Morris
3. Josh Morris
4. Michael Jennings
5. Daniel Tupou
6. Josh Reynolds
7. Trent Hodkinson
8. James Tamou
9. Robbie Farah
10. Aaron Woods
11. Anthony Watmough
12. Beau Scott
13. Paul Gallen (c)

14. Trent Merrin
15. Tony Williams
16. Luke Lewis
17. Josh Jackson

Now that is a true NSW selectors' team. Only missing element is Gidley.

I bet Bozo campaigned to have Beau Scott in the centres to shut down Inglis, then we could have dumped Jennings and brought captain courageous onto the bench.

There's others on twitter saying 17 is Hoffman, who id slightly prefer to Jackson

why would you have two blokes in Hoffman & Williams on the bench who have played in no other position in their career other than the left-side forward?

Don't know who Tariq Simms pissed off

true. in a choice between he and Josh Jackson who are both right-side players, you'd go Tariq all day and all night. he's demonstrated his ability in more than 8 weeks of football.

not a bash against the dogs, but if this team is loaded with Canterbury players as rumoured, then it's just the same old selection mistakes of years gone by. Remember the Manly Origin team? then the St George one? and Easts last year?

I'm certain that Fulton and the coaches of NSW (Bellamy gets a leave pass as he was a full-time club coach too and he had those old farts selecting the team for him as well) in Stuart & Daley don't do nearly enough video reviews of players eligible to play for NSW to identify attributes required for this level. Instead, they take the lazy option of watching games and just notice players in winning teams.

As explained above, it's been happening for years.

If they aren't playing a genuine utility on the bench (which they shouldn't) then Jackson is a better selection than Sims IMO. Jackson can cover centre, 5/8 and hooker if one of them go down. But he also won't be out of place in the team like Buhrer was - Daley doesn't need to stick him on for a token 5 minute run but can get a good quality 20 to 30 mins out of him. He is one of the better back-rowers IMO and can hit a hole better than most

If you were using the City Country game to decide, then Adam Reynolds and Mullen were the two best on field and would be the halves.

Really what the hell is the point of City / Country? I don't particularly mind it as a spectacle but we should just drop any pretense that it is a trial to Origin.

Anyway Hodko and Reynolds will be interesting. Looking forward to seeing how they handle the step-up.

Hodkinson seems mature and has an intelligent football brain. But what I love is what he did the other week. f*ck my memory but he got penalized for a tackle against a forward who was pissed at him. The forward ran the ball straight and hard at Hodkinson who perfectly tackled him and slammed him on his back. Composure with resillience.

Reynolds, on the other hand, while being extremely skillful and creative has attitude. It will either inspire the troops and his enthusiasm will be contagious or he'll rile Qld up enough who will tear him a new asshole on the field and on the scoreboard. The guys a great footballer. He just doesn't have to be a mini-Ennis.

Hodkinson has those dead shark eyes.

He will be fine.

Watched a lot of him over the years and has never gone missing in games

No, not Hokko. He's not an origin-type player. Both Reynold boys played well for City - I'd say go with that.

No I won't - I'm not biased. If you're basing Hokko's selection on goal kicking, that is not justice enough, as Adam Reynolds is just as good.

I like Hokko and think he can do many things but he doesn't really take the game by the scruff like he may be called on to do. His defence is great and he's cool as ice but he doesn't have the game breaking play in him like a JT etc. Then again, neither did Pearce.

I think Mullen is probably more likely but I think Hokko would do his job.

I am really leaning towards Sutton being there. He is ready and I think if Mullen takes the 7 we'll have a good combo.

Grubby off the bench either to hooker or 5/8 if required and Sutton pushes in to the pack.

With Pearce likely to face sanction, and new halves pairing will be required as Maloney would be less effective with a new 7.

The selectors have shown they prefer club combinations so who better to take on the Maroons than the in form Dog combo.

Not sure why their was such a lack of faith, were their motives purely selfish club over state or just bad judgement....
