Houston told to look elsewhere

Or Penrith. They've had a hard on for our rejects for years.

We'll see if Barrett has any common sense.

I know it was a long time ago, but Bellamy selected Houston as 18th man in SoO and he would fit in quite well with Bellamy's no-frills/cheap pick-up type of player. I still believe Houston can offer something to a team where he is shoved into the front row and just told to tackle and hit it up.

Problem with House is that at his worst he's a liability and at his best he doesn't really offer much more than a junior on 1/3 of his salary with a much higher ceiling.

I'm wishing him well. Not a good way to end his career with the Knights.
He doesn't offer us what we need and has been a bit of a play killer at times.
He has, however, put a lot of effort in and has made a contribution to the club - in particular the year after that 1 year digging trenches or whatever it was.
He has had the ability to straighten up the play and make some decent gains .Sometimes that was what killed plays.
An awkward and clumsy looking type of player but, regardless of some opinions,I think he deserves best wishes.

Yeah, I don't think we owe him anything either, really. He helped drag us through the mud with the Wicks saga, and has been mostly a total liability since. He's got this very Michael Hagen-esque look of cluelessness that he gets when something goes wrong that makes me want to hit him.

Agreed on all of the above.

He doesn't offer us what we need and has been a bit of a play killer at times. a healthy percentage of times
He has, however, put a lot of effort in looked like he was going through the motions and has made a contribution to the club drug scandal - in particular the year after that 1 year digging trenches or whatever it was.
He has had the ability to straighten up the play and make some decent gains drop straight to the ground as soon as he hits the line.Sometimes that was what killed plays.

cant piss of fast enough

For mine he is the face of the mediocrity that has embedded itself in the club. Good riddance

Announced today that he has been released and is heading to Widnes in the ESL.

Good luck to the bloke.

Browny is clearing the decks.

Nathan is exactly the sort of coach players want to play for. I have no doubt he will make the club more attractive to other players we wish to recruit as well. A top 8 finish would be huge leg up there for us. A big ask this season but we have to believe the kids are good enough. This is a team with plenty of tomorrows in it. His time in origin will not hurt either cos the general vibe i get is the rep players really like the man. As for Farah I would not take it personally cos he had family ties to Sydney he could not leave and his love for the Tigers has to be comended.

We haven't even played one game yet. Brown is showing some really good signs but let's not forget what state we're currently in. I wouldn't be expecting/hoping too much. With having the most inexperienced/youngest team in the comp next year coming off a spoon and a few years of utter hell I'd be happy to see us not pick up another spoon to be honest.

Firstly, good luck to Houso...as much as he is maligned by many on here (and for good reason) I don't ever believe he lacked effort/commitment whilst on the field - skill, ability and effectiveness were another matter.

On our season next year:

* Brown has thoroughly impressed in what I have seen so far from the clearing of the decks, to the fitness and pre-season work he is instilling in the squad - that early pre-season photo of Uate makes it evident to me that we should be physically up to the challenge come round 1

* Our first string squad should be capable of getting us to between 8th and 10th this year if Brown demonstrates he has the same level of skill and capability with tactics and strategy as he has with his restructure and professionalism

* that position very much hangs on a better than fair run on injuries - our depth is still significantly below other clubs and was never going to be fixed in his first year.

I am more enthused about 2017 and the promise that holds but I am also setting my expectations higher that beating off back to back spoons next year...the more I see and here of what Brown is and has done, the more I have faith that our club has turned a monumental corner that we won't ever return to.

Is our depth really that bad? We were NSW Cup champions after all. I think The biggest hurdle we face as a top 8 team isn't depth, but that we lack class in the spine. Fullback and hooker are a huge worry. We have two young guys where the sky is the limit, but as of yet they are rookies who are quite a few steps behind the top players in their positions at other clubs.

The top clubs have the luxury of bringing young guys into first grade and then having their spine provide stability and quality service. We had Mamo, Randell and Roberts last year to help our rookies. Poor guys never stood a chance lol.

We do lack quality depth in the halves, but it is pretty hard for any club to stockpile quality players in those positions.

If we keep an almost fully fit team on the paddock, with our run home I reckon we could get up to 6th (probably at best). I am confident we will avoid the spoon next year.

Our team is probably middle of the park on paper and any middle of the park team could finish 6th-12th with little points separating them at the end of the season.
