.....he has a serious chance of finishing 2003 as the leading wicket taker in the calender year? It is down to who take more wickets, him vs. India here or Ntini vs. the Windies in Durban.

Seriously, how?

South Africa also played them this year. Twice. Does that make Ntini a bad bowler?

Even if you take them out he has still taken 35+ wickets in 12 tests.

However as they count 50+ wickets in a calender year is still phenomonal.

Take a look at who Ntini got his wickets against though.

As much as we bag him, Stuey is a good bowler who has the record and stats to back that up.

He is a bit expensive, but he gets wickets.

Its good fun bagging him tho.

His biggest problem is he shoes he is filling.
Seems he will tour India - the true test for any spinner.

The reason i don't rate him as a bowler is before he takes his wickets he gets f**king belted to all parts of the ground. He is then lucky to clean up the tail .

Ending with figures of 4/100. Too often he gives away far too many runs.

Another reason they we need Warney back is for our slips fielding.

Recently it has been sub standard.

Warnie, Haydos and Punter at third looks alot better than the current arrangement.

Langer is not a slips fieldsman.

Stuart MacGill is one of the worst spin bowlers to wear the baggy green! He has no variation what so ever!! He bowls the slow leggie then a fast leggie! thats all he has got!!! He gets all his wickets against crap test nations and tail enders!! Bring on Feb 12th! Cant wait for Warney!!!!

The problem isn't really with MacGill. Essentially the fact he replaces the greatest living spinner makes it difficult for him to earn his spot.

MacGill's bowling often looks good towards the end, but his success against the tail inflates his wicket-tally in almost every match. He goes from 1/100 to 4/110, thereby making ordinary figures look like a stoical performance in the heat against all odds and symbolic of his gutsy determination etc etc etc - bottom line he is far too expensive, but statistically he looks good.

Certainly in this series he has had some ordinary days in amongst days of success, but not brilliance.

On the return of Warne you need only look at what each player offers to the team to realise the need for Warne ahead of MacGill. Australia's tail is struggling with only Brett Lee representing the good lower-order batsmen of Australia. Williams, MacGill and Bracken are generally considered number 10-11s. MacGill's fielding is lazy and quite ordinary. He also struggles to keep his bowling under control - loose balls result in boundaries.

Compare this to Warne - can take wickets cheaper, restricts runs more, can dominate the opposition, possesses greater variety and has a reputation for winning matches. His fielding is normally quite good, in the slips generally, he doesn't come across as lazy when fielding, and his batting is quite good albeit a bit rushed. A HS of 99, missing his Test century because of a failed shot to cow-corner that saw him get out.

Warne offers a better all-round player than MacGill - MacGill cannot compete with Warne's long-term success.

Despite a lot of recent criticism, he bowled very well and very tight on day 4.

Thats more like what we expect and what we will need for the amount of overs that he will be required to bowl next weekend in Sydney.

MacGill spins it miles. He lacks the control of Warney though. They don't compare really, but Warney has to comeback yet. Not all comebacks are successful.

MacGill is not Warne but I can't think of any test playing nations who wouldn't take him though. When you consider he's number 2, he's a pretty handy back up.

Mcrubbish is good for at least two wickets per innings because he gets first crack at the tail everytime. Helps with his average and strike rate.

I can understand why many bag him, because he doesn't appear to be a genuine team player and generally seems to be a pompous prattttt.

I couldn't stand Warnie at one stage either, but he's a god compared to this sandgroping, NSW wannabe, goose.

Tendulker also spins it miles.
