How do we feel after season 2014

I think the writing was on the wall when we got smashed in the charity shield. We managed to win a few games and then it all went down hill from there. If the board and CEO were serious they would've sacked Price after we lost to parra and tigers towards the end of last year. Instead they undertook an 'independent review' which recommended adding Mary as offensive coach and here we are, one year on and nothing much has changed.

I think we"ll win a few games next year but again miss the finals. Mary will work hard on his list of excuses (young squad, inherited roster, injuries, etc etc but we'll be staring 4 years of no finals footy before you know it.

Welcome to st George Illawarra - 2012-2015.....the mediocrity years.

I said it 12 months ago...........vote with your wallets. Don't renew your membership. It's the only way these stubborn f*&cks will understand.

At this stage, I feel shit. In fact, I feel worse about 2015 than i did about 2014 this time in 2013. At least then we had the likes of Widdop, Thompson, Williams and Dugan (with a full preseason) to look forward to.

Now we have no signings, a nervous wait to see who ends up on the coaching staff and anxiety over whether or not our ass clown of a coach will lose our best outside back OR play our most dangerous attacking player in his best position.

Another year another charade. A team of stick figures. The same clowns running the show drowning their sorrows in Crown Lager and eating free spring rolls at the club. Another inexperienced coach. The old boys union. More insipid press conferences. Still no mongrel. No signings. A club with history but no soul and no heart. To follow the dragons now you need to have a "support the underdog" attitude. And we were never an underdog. I always thought that I would support the Dragons until I died but I think they might die first. It's very shaky.

With doust in charge for years to come, could be a good thing and just fold them.

Over that grub and his mates

Im hearing you Benny and others...that's why I started this post...cant for the life of me work out why they offer blokes like Price and McGregor long term contracts...surely blind Freddy can see that our club and its supporters are disgruntled ....and crowd attendance will drop like flies...and with below par coaches we will NOT attract to many good players when and if available.

Before the Bronco's game Saints were a chance of the 8. They lost and so did our hopes not only for 2014 but for the next few years. That performance was terrible and if not for a ref howler Saints would have lost by plenty.

Depending on the roster they have for 2015 it is going to be another long season. Only highlight was the sacking of Price but then they did not go out and by a good experienced coach so they have not learned anything for the last few years. Tim Sheens or Browny would have been by far the better options.

I hear the Tigers may look at Jason Taylor as coach for next season. For a board as disfunctional as the Tigers they have more of an idea about coaches than our mob. How sad is that.

My take on the coaching front is that until we sign a coach that causes serious ructions at board level then we don't have the right coach and would also confirm that we have the wrong board.

We desperately need serious leadership from somewhere. We need an injection of new blood in the coaching and management ranks.

There's no-one in our forwards that has an acceptable level of a physical presence. Occasionally there are glimpses of this in runs by Thompson & Merrin, but sadly the rest are just solid workhorses. Yes, those types are needed, but there's very little variety with footwork at the line, leg speed or offloads.

OK, this has all been said before, but we need forwards who offer something different or we need to develop / encourage some of those skills in our existing squad. Sorry, but the people responsible for that aren't doing their job & need to be replaced. There's one guy in particular who gave us great service as a player, but he's been kept on far too long.

No-one at the club makes these "hard decisions" & that's why the Dragons have failed to make the 8 again ( three straight years as we all know ! ). The people with the power to hire & fire need to be ruthless & base their actions on what's best for the club, not just keep employing ex-players who have become mates.

Feel totally empty.Expected a new coach and we appoint a water boy with training wheels, sign a forward (O'Brien) who hasn't played 1st grade as a forward. We have a team of talented players who play as individuals with no direction.
Will go into 2015 with no expectations because I feel another winter of discontent coming up.

I thought we recruited well with Widdop, Dugan, Thompson and the mid season arrival of Benji. That's a fair recruitment class that most teams would be happy with. Rein, Stockwell, JDB and Frizell had another year of experience under their belts as well. Yes we were missing some props, but the roster was mostly fine.

Given what transpired this year, this much is clear:

- Price can't coach and the decision to re-appoint him last year was ridiculous (like we all suspected)
- There is a glaring lack of leadership in the team. I love Benny Creagh, but he's no captain. There is no way a Minichello, Lyon, Ennis et al would put up with some of the performances this year.
- Team spirit is severely lacking, highlighted by the last round capitulation and drubbings handed out by the Dogs, Eel and Roosters. Most of the side have no long term ties to the club and there was clearly no pride in the jersey.
- I'm not certain that McGregor is any better than Price (the sample size is too small), but signs are not good.

I'm not sure how the above is resolved, as the addition of good players didn't seem to improve results. End of the day, the coach and management have to find a way for the players to perform and develop some pride in playing for the Red V.

It won't be easy.

Feel like a loser following the dragons, that is losing way more than winning. I hate that we are not just an under dog team, we are the underachieving lazy dog team. I hate losing... All the time anyway. I think we are better off with Mary but still will be that bloody dog of a team for years. I would love a more aggressive team next year even if we don't win the thing we just smash all who run the ball to us and just make that bloody eight because we just have to. If Mary was in charge all year I see us doing it. Steve price has left the building ladies and gentlemen.

Chased Bellamy got price
Chased Bennet got Mary

So your telling me our best best option b was Mary ffs ?

Is Mcgregor gonna be a 50% coach?
Ie, win as many as he loses, if so nothing is changing for another 3.

Ps: Can a centre make a break, when was the last time?

Gutted, plus what BennyV said.
What is worse is that I have little optimism for 2015.

I believe i heard this morning that Nathan Brown is an option fo Tigpies if they sack Potter...add this to the option of Jason Taylor, and these guys are looking like they are ACTUALLY looking for the best coaching candidate...

Meanwhile we are forced to swallow the fact that the our options were Mary, Sheens or Henry...the amount of fail flowing from our club could flood a large country village...

no our options were just Mary i think.

i doubt Sheens or Henry were ever officially in the running... it was always Mary's for the taking provided he got a few wins on the board, albeit against sub standard teams..
