Oh, I understand now...something to do with Melbourne.
Well with respect Ms Storm, I kind of liked the idea of having a team on the Gold Coast whenI moved up here. I figured it gave me an opportunity to watch first grade Rugby League in a city which has a genuine love for the game.
Sadly, the new NRL booted them out of the comp and lo and behold, Melbourne took their place. Natural progression? Not really, they were just keeping John Ribot de Bastard in a job.

Hold on Hold on Hold on, i will always contend that 'national expansion' failed because of the SL war, that coincidently occured at the same time when RL had expanded into Perth, Townsvilleand Auckland and was looking into Adelaide and Melbourne in 1995. Let me ask you all a question, if Super League NEVER occured, how successful do u think naitonal expansion would've been? No fighting, no splits, no nothing. Honestly, what do u think would've happened?

And international expansion would be further foward than it is now.

The ARL was already expanded....into SE Qld, NQ, NZ, Perth and Adelaide.
Super League came along and sent the game to the wall, financially. If Super League never happened, these teams would probably still exist.
But we have Melbourne, don't we?

I've always said that where Melbourne have gone wrong is in getting their players from Brisbane now. It was Newcastle players that won them a grandfinal.

You wanted a national comp, but were unwilling to pay the price, ie, fewer Sydney based clubs.

How the hell would international expansion be any better without SL? Isn't the lack of expansion largely the fault of the Aussies?

I dont see anyone blaming RLs ills on SL.
IMO, there were problems with the old boys before as well.
I know that SL was a shot in the arm in the UK but in Aust it was something we could have lived without.

After watching that pathetic performance by the Storm and then coming on the BB to read all this "outdated" rubbish, I really did feel like telling you all to jump!

And yes I do have a sense of humour, but not at this same old shite about the Storm....I do worry about the state of mind of people who are involved in rugby league sometimes

I just wonder if this comp. will ever meet the same standards (overall) as the afl....where their folk are now totally committed to spreading the word around the country. Sure we lost WA and SA Teams and I personally would love to see them back, but how on earth can we justify a national team, when some of you just want to add NSW or Q'ld. teams into the equation.

Get behind what we have and move forward, not backward.

Thats garbage offcourse. There are many more thousands who were shafted on the Gold Coast to make way for Melbourne. lol... I can assure you that my 'strength of character' (

Sadly, we'll have to watch the Melbourne support slowly erode over the next few years as Ribot andCo keep on withtheir various attempts to sell off their stake in the franchise. Good luck,
