Now all you idiots would probably think this is rooster bashing but it's not about that. its about whats good for Rugby league.

Now we are gonna see the demise of a couple of clubs next year, because the roosters sign the best players from the respective clubs.

Now yes, i understand that Fittler, Hodges, and hegarty would have been on decent money, but with regard to hodges and hegarty who would you honestly have, ROberts and Monoghan or Hegarty and Hodges, both who are crap this season.

now we will look at Penrith.

In the past two years we have let go:

Scott Sattler
Ryan Girdler
Martin Lang
Paul Whaitura
Amos Roberts
Ben Reynolds
Chris hicks
Shane Elford
Colin Ward
Brett Howland
Darren Peachey

along with a couple of other fringe players,

and last year signed:
Amos roberts - $50,000 - NExt year not gonna be on books, signed with roosters for much much more.
Frank Puletua - Match Payments, in second tier cap -Probably not gonna be here next year
Trent Clayton - Premier league - Maybe there because will probably get wing spot.

Yet the roosters can let go:

Fittler
Hodges
Hegarty
Robinson
Cusack
and a few fringe players

and can sign players of the calibre of:

Brett Firman
Amos Roberts
Joel Monoghan

All of which are better options than Hodges and Hegarty.

Fittler is an immortal so I can't justify that, but last year, it was promised that Fittler's money would be taken up for upgrades to current players contracts, now with that money, that should upgrade all the players contracts, and now they can sign these players, who are the best players for their clubs respectively.

Now look at this starting 17 and tell me if this isn't 3.2 million itself, without the other 8 players:

1. Anthony Minichello
2. Amos Roberts
3. Joel Monoghan
4. Ryan Cross
5. Chris Walker
6. Brett Finch
7. Brett Firman
8. Adrian Morley
9. Craig Wing
10. Jason Cayless
11. Michael Crocker
12. Craig Fitzgibbon
13. Luke Ricketson

14. Chris Flannery
15. Anthony Tupou
16. Ned Catic
17. Stuart Webb

Sorry but 15/17 of that squad would be on very very good money.

I can't see that the squad is under the cap itself.

I know its just a whinge.

But to face facts, they will never get caught, but thats my two cents. You wont hear anything else from me today.

Because the Roosters are a prime example of a club at the top who can continuosly release players yet sign other players of a higher calibre. Their credibility is questionable.

Xwizit, It's not my intention to be a rooster bashing thread. Its a concern thread.

If people wanna bring up other clubs, then by all means do it. But i'm just comparing two successful clubs over the past two years, thats all. Not a bashing thread.

Adam, yes thats the mail i've heard, that he is going to england.

Big Mick, ignorance is bliss.

Gone from 2002 grand final winning side:
Luke Phillips
Brett Mullins
Shannon Hegarty
Justin Hodges
Brad Fittler
Bryan Fletcher
Peter Cusack
Simon Bonetti
Andrew Lomu
David Kidwell

Chad Robinson as well (didn't play in 2002 GF but did in 2003 GF).

And we have also lost a fair few fringe players as well.

mate! to be fair.

you have included players that Penrith have lost for this year and next year, however you've only given us a list players that Roosters have lost for next year. Of the top on my head I can't remember any players the Roosters have lost but there must be a few.

both are fully fit.

Hegarty was useless last night.

Hodges is useless no matter what.

Monoghan will get better next year, and was second on tryscoring list last year, and second this year.

FUnnily enough, behind roberts. but you know they can't score tries and hodges and hegarty score so much more and have the safest hands in the NRL

see now big mick you are basing your opinion of players on their supposed salary. Hegarty is a former intl, hodges a SOO rep. Monaghan and roberts may be better players in your opinion but hodges and hegarty have accomplished alot in almost the same space of time as monahgan and roberts

both are fully fit.

Hegarty was useless last night.

Hodges is useless no matter what.

Hodges suffered a serious knee injury just last year. The fact he's playing is irrelevant. The type of injury he had takes 18-24 months to fully recover from. Look at all the footballers in the past with the same injury.

Hegarty only just came back 5-6 weeks ago from a bad ankle injury. Takes time to get back into form.

Monoghan will get better next year, and was second on tryscoring list last year, and second this year.

FUnnily enough, behind roberts. but you know they can't score tries and hodges and hegarty score so much more and have the safest hands in the NRL

Try-scoring for wingers is irrelevant. Look at Blacklock. Easily the top try-scorer but well down the list in wingers.

Wesser was the top try-scorer last year. He was a fullback, so using your theory you think Wesser is better than Lockyer?

Don't look at tries to determine ability, look at all the stats.

It is plainly obvious that if the top 6 clubs keep on signing all the good players then the struggling clubs will stay struggling and this comp will just be dominated year after year by the likes of the Roosters, Broncos, Dogs etc...I say we look at the cap a lot more closer because at the moment it is a bloody joke !!.

What do you want to look at? PI following players around?

The NRL is doing more than they legally do.
