How to run a pick the score competition for tonight?

My and some mates are having a pick the score competition for today's game.
What is the best way to find out who gets the 'closest' score?

First rule is obviously picking the right team.
Secondly we thought about adding the differential for both teams from tipped score and actual and lowest score wins. But that way will likely see a lot of the same scores.
Have you ever done one? How did you do it?

Dangerous territory right there matey, especially if the drink is involved.

You would have to get them to pick a different score if there are matched scorelines,or they will have to share the spoils.

I went on the TAB and put Souths to win by 49+ to Dogs 18 just for the poos and giggles.

Let us know how it pans out.

depends how many people you have but how bout football lotto. A Grid with all the evens for one team accross the bottom, evens for the other team down the side, randomly assign a spot on the grid for each person, only problem is if you get a field goal, maybe extra square for any scoreline with an odd.

We've ended up using an order system
First you have to pick the correct team.
Then closest to that winning team's score.
If there's still multiple people in it we go onto closest to the losing team's score.
If after that it's not decided we split the money.

We always just did an all in. Everybody picks one score for each team, and then chucks in The same amount of money as people participating. So 5 playing costs $5 each. Whack it on at the tab.

That way everybody wins.
