How well will Souths do in 2012

With no halfback and a backline populated by soulless grubs like BDT and Gringles, Souths are pretty much screwed. I expect them to finish 2012 in 11th position.

The old saying 1 6 7 and 9 win you big games, Souths have very little in the way of 1 6 and 7. They will win games on the back of a very strong pack but they will lose plenty of games due lack of direction. Time will tell but border line top 8 at best, but they could also do very well if a couple of young kids step up to the mark and if the new coach actually picks the right players in the right positions. The comp is so close these days any team with some luck can do well

I think Souths have plenty of choice at fullback. Whether its Inglis, Merrit or James Roberts - the spot will be fine.

6 and 7 look run of the mill though

1st-16th for me, this team has so much potential but with so many significant changes (coach, halfback, squad in general) anything could happen. I think the best thing to do is have little to no expectation and see how the season pans out. But i'm certain it will be an interesting season not just for the Bunnies but for all the other teams.

Definitely bottom 8, maybe bottom 4. Definitely don't dislike the bunnies, I like watching them play but they'll probably play like the eels did this year. Adam Reynolds for ROTY honours.

Souths will do well if their players stay injury-free. It's as simple as that. I think Reynolds will start off slow and once he gets into his comfort zone he will do what Daly Cherry Evans did for Manly. Souths to get to the 8...by pure luck this year.

I think its well established most Souths fans here are embarassed when DunniesMan spews his blind hopes

Not really. Bunniesmans mostly deluded optimism is rather amusing. Tom Shines, Bieber fan club-esque devotion to the LOL@Souffs possy is what I call embarrassing.

the no. 1, 6, 7 & 9 jerseys are the most important positions in the modern rugby league team, so it's imperative you have your best players in those jerseys.

I'd say souths best 4 players would be (in no particular order):
- ingli$
- burgess (sam)
- asotasi
- crocker

Based on that, i'd play them in the following positions:
- fullback: burgess, cause he's the tallest.
- five eigth: asotasi as he has the best leadership and experience
- halfback: crocker, as he's the shortest
- hooker: ingli$, cause he'll be best at making busts up the middle of the field..

as other have said 6th -11th. I really rate Reynolds he was superb in the Toyota Cup grand Final 2 seasons ago i believe he kicked two 40/20's and was the second best player on the pitch for me after Shaun Johnson.

With Cherry-Evans and Johnson being in the Grand Final last season and Jeff Robson two seasons before that i think it's easier to win a competition these days without having a top class halfback which is a shame really.

Maguire i believe is the big factor i honestly believe this season could be a really big season for them but if he fails to live up to the hype they might struggle for a while. John Lang is a great transitional coach his teams play pretty basic stuff for the most part but they always tend to improve under him. Maguire needs to make the next step and get Souths into the finals this season and a premiership threat for 2013.

I stopped reading here, I remember the Knights had an injury prone player named Beau Henry that was the next big thing and leading all sorts of stats.

Now his about the 3rd choice halfback at the titans.

Really feel for Maguire his taking a real poisoned chalice, a hooker who's just a grub + a liability in defence, zero proven halves, and depth that looks shaky at best.....

Would love to see the bunnies make the 8, but they'll be 10-13th for sure.

It's clearly a rebuilding phase for us; We've had like 8 coaches in 11 seasons since returning to the comp and we've finally got a promising young coach with some credentials on the board!.

Maguire comes to a club which has literally no room to operate under the salary cap so his hands are tied when it comes to player retention and player recruitment.

Maguire can't help the excess of the backending of contracts as we seem to lose more players then we gain especially in recent seasons so depth gets thinner and thinner; Luckily we've made some depth signings which we fit under the salary cap which together the salary stll would of fell short of what Chris Sandow wanted and got from Parramatta and maybe the club made the mistake of re-signing John Sutton before going to Heavy negotiations wit Chris but the way Adam Reynolds has been told to operate by simply provide a fluent and consistet kicking game and play expansive and feed the ball out to the backs without any sort of flashiness in attack and given we have a coach that has been labelled a genius by high opinions and will obviously bring some things he has learnt from Bellamy also will reverse trends we have at the club as an example fitness and conditioning will NOT be a problem in 2012 and it was a massive setback for our chances in 2011.

We've ditched a Cricket coach in the physio to help relieve and smoothen out recovery of heavy contact injures and brought a cracker of guy in Troy Thompson coming from Melbourne Rebels in 2011 and was part of SOO staff up until the 2010 series also so I think generally an improvement on player recovery and player durablity will be seen throughout.

I think the platform are there for a great season for the Rabbitohs; It's certainly a great platform for our inexperienced half combo to play off with talent throughout on the fringes and it's all down to commitment, execution and talking to each other because they will know the toughness of Madge and the slightest form slump could see them be demoted to the bench of further down to NSW Cup; So I think players will be constantly looking at gunning it at 110% capability every game.

It's certainly a great blend of players to have with an average age of 24 with some valuable experience and some very talented youngsters who may see their potential under a set coaching staff that will look to every little detail of anything that is related to on field performance; High hopes for James Roberts and the early shape of big George Burgess is also a very promising sign for him to realise what he has.

I am not one to talk up the Bunnies chances but they're is certainly the playing roster to make a serious go of it next year with GI, King and Merritt to DT, Sam and Issac Luke there is attacking prowess all over; The rest is performance, execution and durability over 80 minutes and the season

Somewhere in the teens, is my prediction
