Howard trade

Went to the game in March where Orlando DEFEAETED Miami in OT. Howard had 24pts and 27 rebounds. Lebron had no impact at all in that game and if Dwight had Kobe and Nash around him on the perimiter they would have won by 20

The game I assume you're talking about is this one, because it's the only game they won in OT last year.

http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=320313019

They split the series with Miami 2-2 last season. Lebron nearly had a triple double going by the box score. I would say that's somewhat of an impact to the game! ;-)
But he did dominate the boards in all 4 games against Miami - Rebs: 24, 25, 11 & 15. That's pretty decent.

In both games against OKC last year he got 33/9 & 11/15. (pts & rebs) Perkins achieved 6/4 & 4/11 against Dwight. Maybe people are thinking of his days in Boston, but on recent form he's not exactly a big problem. I'd be more worried about the cover defence from Ibaka on the double. Should also be noted he was playing on a worse team at the time.

He has only one season scoring about 21ppg. He is not an elite player offensively. The definition of "not elite" is "containable".

These Lakers will be a very good defensive team but they won't be as good offensively as people think.

Answer my question - who on the Heat will contain him?

Howard is NOT in the class of the great centres of the 80's and 90's BUT he is far and away the best right now.

Ok.

Lebrons proven himself. Let's see Dwight deliver when it matters.

Not suggesting he's not the best.

And no 1 person on the Heatwill contain him but an elite team defense knows how to stop players from getting touches where they want them.

Let's see if the Lakers can stop Durant/Westbrook/Harden first.

And the lakers are basically laughing their arse off at everyone:

”We have a deal,” Kupchak said. ”Who are we getting?” Brown asked. ”Dwight Howard,” Kupchak answered. ”Who’s going out?” Brown asked. ”Andrew,” Kupchak answered, referring to center Andrew Bynum, who will now play with the 76ers. ”That’s all?” Brown asked. ”That’s all,” said Kupchak, though the trade also involved sending reserve forwards Josh McRobertsand Christian Eyenga and protected first-round and second-round picks to Orlando for forward Earl Clark and guard Chris Duhon. Brown still struggled processing the news. ”No Pau?” Brown asked, in reference to Lakers forward Pau Gasol. After all, reports first indicated these talks would also include Gasol going to the Magic, and he had been the subject of endless trade speculation ever since the NBA nixed the Chris Paul deal, which would’ve sent Gasol to the Houston Rockets. ”No Pau,” Kupchak said. Kupchak then recalled Brown leaping out of his chair and hugging him, an incident that prompted plenty of reporters to chuckle as he told the story.”

These purple f**ks would have traded Gasol as well. Orlando could have then traded him on to someone else for more picks but NOOOOOOOOOOOO. Dumb f**ks. Such a stupid organisation.

Rejected a better trade from Brooklyn, then have their new trading partner laughing at them days after the trade for getting so much less than they could have.

The Lakers are so pimp, they just raped Orlando.

The Nuggets are looking pretty good imo as well.

The Lakers now have a lot of talent but before they even get to Miami they don't match well with OKC.

OKC has Perkins who can neutralize Dwight. Then you have Durant/Harden/Westbrook which IMO is way better than what the Lakers have on the perimeter.

Yesterday I said they're certainties to get to the finals. Now, I'm not convinced they get past OKC.

Howard never got anywhere near the amount of touches he should of on the Magic. That team lived and died by the three. He still has a pretty limited offensive game but get him the ball near the basket and its either gonna be a bucket, foul or an open shot for one of their shooters.

Dwight 20.6 ppg last season.. for a guy who doesn't have much offence he sure can get some points.

He has 1 post move, thats it.

He is still the best centre in the L, just with a very limited offensive game. But when you can get 20ppg from putbacks, alley oops and free throws i suppose you dont need a diverse offensive repertoire. Imagine if he had a quality post game though...

Probably not 28ppg. It depends on his back.

Kobe has to reduce his involvement though. If he does his efficiency will increase though. Let Nash run pick & roll all day.

This.

If they can convince Kobe to take a lesser role then they will be scary.

They would of been better off last year if Kobe pulled his head in and let them run the O through Bynum a bit more.

yeah.. wasn't having a shot at you or anything.. just saying he's capable of scoring some points..

I was reading or hearing something from Orlando yesterday somewhere.. that they wanted Howard to lead the league in rebounds and block shots while he was there.. so they were building him as a defensive centre.. more so then an offensive centre..

According to what Kobe said a little while ago.. Dwight will be the third option.. which really logically is correct. Word is he might miss the start of the season, so it could take a while for him to fit in offensively this season, his numbers might be down initially, specially being behind two scorers in Kobe and Pau.. but defensively he'll dominate, which will suit the Lakers fine anyways..

I wonder who Lakers will play in the front court if Howard does miss the start of the season? Jordan Hill? 7 foot rookie Robert Sacre?

Was really happy to see the Philly press conference for Bynum (an J-Rich). Drew really seemed to be happy with it all, and the fans were awesome. Hopefully it works out for both parties.
