Huge wrap on Parramatta Eels' 17-year-old Bevan French

To be fair, on current production, French would be the one to miss out if all our backs were fit.

It'd come down to a conversation over the wing spot between him and Hoffman, and the Hoff is playing really well and making plenty of meters early in the sets. That's the area that is holding French back - needs to be more involved in that aspect.

But he has all the talent in the world, hopefully he clicks into gear in the coming weeks!
I'm starting to think French should go back to Wenty when Norman returns. He can regain fitness and work on his fullback play, which he won't be able to do on the wing in first grade.

He is coming back from injury and probably as confused as the rest of us as to who his halves are going to be each week. Once he settles in with Moses he will get on the end of clever kicks and his game will come back.

I think French became a member on here to check the team list thread each Tuesday arvo. The fact that he is confused points to him being Fanbase

French is still potentially the best fullback at the club, but he relies heavily on other players creating space. Guys like Hoffman and Gutherson have less strike but they can just dig into the line and get a quick play-the-ball when nothing's on.

I'd swap French for Ponga in a nanosecond.

But if we aren't winning the comp this season (lets be honest!), then French getting that experience at the top level is probably better all round.

In a few weeks with 2 legit playmakers one imagines an inside ball play working a treat to unleash French.

He definitely won't be doing much for his combinations if he goes to Wenty.

The real Q is what to do with Guth when Norman comes back.

He should be in the side instead of Taka or Auva for mine

I cant see BA dropping him

I don't mind Taka off the bench actually, though Will Smith did alright last night as back up to Kaysa.

No way he gets dropped, he is one of our best.
I agree he should be moved to centre, thats why for combination purposes I would have him at centre now and Taka at 58.

Gutherson right centre. Once Jenko comes back, Taka drops to the bench and Edwards goes back to Wenty.

It's a shame I have to write that as Kenny does a lot of good for our team and I really like him but this year he's making too many mistakes.

Edwards>>>>Taka. Not even a contest.

French is in our best five outside backs, even as a winger.

1-Gutherson
2-Semi
3-Jennings
4-Hoffman/Taka (whoever is playing better at the time)
5-French

Or leave French at the back, Hoff on the wing and Guth in the centres. French is electric, must be in the side IMO
