As a Bronco fan I can honestly say that I am excited by this development. Honestly, look what it did to St George and the Bulldogs losing one your stars!

Top of the table for us next year, boys!

unbelievable story!!!

what with all the hatred towards afl....knowone down here in victoria has this hatred for league

Is it because the swans have a good foot hold in sydney now and the storm still play infront of 10,000 crowds even though us vic's dont hate league

Anyway onto Hunt....what a coup for the gold coast and afl
If hunt is on 500,000 a yr then thats a bargain compared to how much advertising this will give the afl on the gold coast right up until his first game in 2011

Cant wait to see him show the afl boys how its done

I live in Melbourne.

Theres plenty of people who have nothing but contempt and derision for League and people who support league.

You're a liar.

Please f**k off and dont come back. Tell me what AFL has to offer that League doesnt have.

They will cover things up next time he gets his donger out in a public toilet with a couple of mates. Of course, there won't be a girl there next time...

In the Broncos thread I said I was gutted, the more I think about it, I am a little relieved the hoop-la surrounding his departure is over. Hunt is one of my favourite current Broncos and a very, very good player - with that said - I think he is very, very much replaceable.

In my view, I would be opting to demote Hunt to the QLD Cup bringing in his replacement as we make a run for the finals. We won't get the same quality of player, but we may just find another gem who will be full of confidence come 2010 season.

Best of luck to him in the future, I hope our door is always opening upon his inevitable return to the NRL.

Amen.

But it won't happen.

They just mentioned on Ch9 news that he went for $3m over three years but Hunt would neither confirm or deny.

Lewis still bagging him which is great. Go the King!

Karmichael Hunt is a lad who has always had more passion for the NBA.

He is americanized in many ways.

He has gone on record as saying he finds ' rugby league boring ' to watch on TV, and doesn't even watch the other games.

He prefers watching NBA.

He has no passion for the NRL. He has passion for winning possibly. Not the game.

Just remind them that bigger names, and more skillful players have left, and they haven't been missed, so why would we miss cutie?

For those that think an aussie rules player could not play league does the name greg brentnall ring any bells ?

It is quite common for kids to play both codes.

Good luck to Karmichael Hunt and hope he is successful, whether it be in the AFL in the short term or Union/League in the long term.

From his point of view, he has achieved just about everything there is to achieve in the NRL, and wants to challenge himself by doing something he thinks he can be good at.

Of course it will directly affect the Broncos and their fans, but they have shown in the past they can attract great players and should get over his loss quickly. Not wanting to play against his Broncos teammates also must have weighed on his mind and influenced his decision.

Certainly GC17 have taken a calculated risk by signing Hunt, but the upside definitely out weighs the downside. If it doesn't work out, GC17 will have it's tail between it's legs, not the AFL.

One one hand, the move can be seen as egotistical. On the other hand, I think it is a very brave step.

I'll follow his path with interest.

Demetriou played a huge role in this and even invited Hunt and his girlfriend around to his house to sell the idea.

As Hasler said, the gloves have to come off.

We cannot afford another shoddy TV deal for obvious reasons.

It's time for NEWS LTD to stop selling our game short because we are now starting to pay for it as some of our elite leave the code.

I do remember him saying this when he first burst onto the scene so the move isn't surprising. Once the sh*t hit the fan with the toilet incident he was always going to look elsewhere. The way the media attacks RL compared to other sports is an issue.
