Hunt's price tag

Kurt Mann always had the talent. From memory Bellamy was keen to keep hold of him and was pretty sad to lose the guy. Not his fault Mary had no idea how to use him. Rather they sign Norman, they had a very capable guy in Mann but due to Mary and his poor treatment of Mann, he left to chase a permanent 1st grade spot which he deserved. Like Lomax had 1 bad game at fullback and never to be seen there again.

This is a perfect example of why Millward should not be blamed for the roster. He brings in a quality player like Mann, Mary screws him up, he then leaves and Millward has to go to the market to replace a guy that he initially bought in to fit into the team. Which he did with Norman. Mann out, Norman in. Now I remember everyone cheering when Norman joined so Millward actually did try and improve the roster. Saints also went from McCrone to Hunt, which was a massive improvement in cattle yet struggle which is obvious the system in place by Mary is rubbish. No matter who you get will struggle under Mary's systems which he (and his mates at the board) honestly believes work.
Millward and Mary both should be sacked.

Millward also signed some rubish players and did not sign some good players that were on the market.

Cmon possm you have X amount of money for X amount of players. You can’t have a gun squad of 25 plus development players. Everyone here knows you have a massive beef with Millward as you only comment about him at least 20 times a day. Some of your recruitment ideas are out there like Pluto

Let’s put it this way. We could sign Bellamy tomorrow as recruitment manager and it wouldn’t make one iota of a difference to who we sign. No one wants to come unless they are a) Desperate for a shot b) On massive overs.

I'd like to see Hunt be our fulltime 80min Hooker with McInnes being our 80min lock.

If we could recruit a high profile prop such as AFB we would have a very strong prop rotation with a good young prospect in Blacker coming through. W have about 1.8m in cap space as a result of forwards Graham, Frizell and possibly De Belin and K Sims not being with us for season 2021 and beyond. So a high profile prop is well within our grasp and no depth signings until we fill the top 17 spots with quality players.

In the backs we need a marquee fullback (maybe B Morris on a two year deal would do the trick) and a top-grade left centre. I think we have the wing positions covered with Saab and Ramsey as the first-choice selection.

When it comes to our centres let's hope the plans are to let Lafai and Aitken go and so with Lomax locking down right centre it would be great if we could sign J Morris on a two year deal until our juniors are ready.
With the likes of Lafai, Aitken, and Sailor all likely to be gone at the end of this season and a significant surplus of the salary cap we should be able to easily afford the recruitment of Brett and Josh Morris.

Yes, the Morris twins back at the Dragons to finish their careers.

Our halves are our real concern with Hunt at hooker and Norman not firing at all. We have some bright young halves coming through Sullivan, Clune and maybe Dufty. I'd be holding on to Norman until we have the halves sorted. Drop him to reserve grade and his manager will soon be asking for a release on our terms.

I would also like to see Hunt as an 80 minute hooker and McInnes as an 80 minute lock forward in attack. However, I feel that our defence would suffer if we were to lose a big bodied forward for Hunt. It is likely that we would be steam rolled during the first twenty minutes of the game or our other forwards would be exhausted from the increased workload.

Perhaps Aitken could be used in the forwards in defence for the first twenty minutes and Hunt moved into the back line. They could then revert to their normal positions for the remainder of the game.

It's pretty much like Mr Bean trying to fix Whistler's Mother
A picture is worth a thousand words, and below is an essay on the Bennett / Price / McGregor eras, respectively (clockwise from left)

Hunt needs one of those reduced stickers and pray someone is dumb or brave enough to pick him up.

Does anyone have a Telegraph subscription? If so can you please post this article? Apparently Hunt isn’t good enough to make the 17 :grinning:

Despite being a favourite of new Dragons coach Anothy Griffin, three players should keep Ben Hunt out of the club’s best 17 in 2021.

It’s been a lean few seasons for the Dragons, but the hope is new coach Anthony Griffin can bring back the good times in 2021.

Forbes - think the big drama for us is if you live in Sydney you have to travel to the Gong for training - just a hassle

Not worth posting... Griffin will start with hunt @ 7...the Tele doesn't even list Hunt in the 17...again a Paper click bait agenda....Just let it rest...

P.S by comparison, were are the articles about Foran & Others ?...Cost more than Hunt...

Lets just give the guy a chance under Griffin...

Great point GS.
The media love giving it to Hunt. Not saying he deserves accolades for his recent performances (as per most of the team) but he doesn’t deserve the gutter journalism either. By gutter I mean leaving him out of the 17 - FFS he played SOO this year!

For me, Hunt is guilty of being a lazy player and lacking confidence.
We all know he has the ability, so l'd like to think with a new coach, he will instill not only confidence but will not allow him to slacken off.

Keep in mind, we had McGregor and Young offering advice, so in Hunts defence, he was hardly being coached.
Now, he has three.

Hopefully, it is really that simple and an easy fix.

LOL,

Like all players he is under scrutiny, but not in the 17 ?

ostrich.png

Point being he is a favourite of the Media for being "Put under Scrutiny "....As I stated where are the articles about the Bulldogs wasting millions on foran during his time @ their Club ?...

Doesn't happen because 1/. Most of the media hate us and many support the bulldogs

2/. They know we are the most passionate supporters in the comp...so lets have another cheap shot at the Dragons...ONE EXAMPLE people forget the G.F Tee - Shirt stories aka being printed before the G.F many years ago ..came out later that it was normal practice for every club to do this, but NO lets try to make the Dragons look Stupid....It's all CLICK Bait....

3/. Once Ben hunt is no longer at the club they will just find another target...its been going on for decades...

Have a good afternoon.

I truly hope Hunt can restore himself to some sort of consistant form under the new coaching regime, however, He will soon turn 31 and will it be a case of:

You're never too old to learn, or
You can't teach an old dog new tricks

Time will tell.

As for the Telegraph, why would people even bother to entertain any ideas they throw up, for them it's just click-bait.
