So what did you all actually think of this movie ?

I grew up with the campy 70's movie version of the book called The Omega MAn (The Simpsons based a Halloween episode on it as well btw) starring Charlton Heston (Probably the biggest ally the NRA EVER HAD LOL:lol:)

I must read the book ... thats all i can say.

Twas good but depressing, and i bet the book was too.

I remember hearing Richard Matheson HATED the 70's movie version of it ... but i look back and think it was just great. Hahah i loved that crap old movie :)

The new one ... obviously much closer to the book, and i enjoyed that too ... but its no Omega Man :)

Here's my proof ...

I know it copped a lot of crap for its ending, but I had no issue with that particular facet of the film. For me, the film's failing point was in the introduction of other survivors. I thought Will Smith more than carried the film on his own, and adding in two (annoying) new characters just ruined what had been a really enjoyable film.

The ending, with all of its elements of sacrifice and such, was perfect for me. I don't know how else it could have ended. Could have done without the rosy epilogue, though. Why are so few films brave enough to have an ending where humanity doesn't triumph against all of the odds?

It is the 4th (?) movie based on the same book. Considering they had a budget about 10 times bigger than "28 Days Later" I thought it was a pretty weak effort and deserves its lower IMDB rating than the latter.

i thought it was better than what people give it credit for. ending was a bit rushed for me, no problems with what happened just when i look at my watch and it's 11:15 and it says it's ending at 11:25 and there still is alot to happen ... an extra 15 minutes would of been better

I thought it was a great idea that was poorly executed. Having said that I did go into the movie with a bit of expectation.

I decided to see the movie after all the great reviews it received, I walked out thinking what was so great about it...

It was pretty good without being great...the ending was rushed and felt kind of like an "everything is gonna be ok" cliche but otherwise I enjoyed it.

I read somewhere that the budget was actually cut for the ending or something like that, can't remember where. I thought the end lacked, but overall it was a decent film. The addition of two other characters annoyed me, too.

Oh yeah, as much as I liked it, it's terribly overrated.

was really enjoying it, but the ending just ruined it. Once the dark seekers broke into the house I was getting ready for it to become something great, then it was just bam bam bam, all over. But I must say the empty New York was both excellent and chilling.

f**king sh*t.

Yeah great movie, Will Smith stood around for an hour an a half and then he died. Thats about it, oh sorry i forgot....he liked Shrek. One of the most boring movies ever. The women and the kid (cant remember their names) had absolutely no real back story and were very boring.

but what could possibly happen once the dark seekers entered the house.
There were only so many thing thats could happen

1) all 3 of them die

2) Will Smith Guns down all of the dark seekers without even getting touched(being born in India this is what i'd expect from a bollywood movie)

3) The cure is found and they escape.

That ep includes one of my favourite scenes of any simpsons episode....

"Oh my God.... my whole family is dead. Little Bart. Little Lisa, Little marge.... and the rest. I'm the last man on earth...."

*Cut to homer dancing naked in the church*

"WAR!! HUH!! Good god ya'll... What is it good for? Absolutely nothin' SAY IT AGAIN, OH YEAH!"

f**king classic
