I think that what he's saying is that he was not up to the job and should not have accepted it when it was offered to him. I think he realises that the team's decline is mainly due to having an under-qualified coach taking sole responsibility for the team while it was in a re-development phase. I actually read it as a fair assessment. He must have realised how outmatched he was as coach when the team started to look a lot better after he left.

Our squad is in great shape thanks to very recent professional cap management. After Hagan and Anderson we've needed it.

As for the spoon, it hasn't hurt the Dogs, Chooks and Storm in recent years. Stop being such a f**king drama queen.

I think we've learnt since Kearney that coaches aren't in charge of recruitment. Or at least, they shouldn't be. Why did such a supposedly massive club as ours not have dedicated recruitment and retention staff? Maybe we couldn't fit them in the change room at Richie Benaud Oval?

Oh dear... Pou absolutely loves it when we're a plodding club - 13 years ago under Kearney, under his hero Brad Arthur, and now under Ryles.

I'd say we are a much stronger club now than we were in 2012. Back then we trained at an undersized cricket oval, and our junior recruitment/retention was so poor that our NYC team had just finished 12th, 16th, 12th and 15th. In 2013 we finished 14th. It was until 2014-2017 that our pathways produced any decent youngsters. Just like they are doing now. And how about that CoE! I hope to see it someday. It will be very exciting.
