A fast and brutal response to a sledge.

Waugh: “I remember you from a couple of years ago. You were shit then and you’re f**ken useless now!”.

Parore :“Yeah that’s me. And I remember you were dating that old, ugly s**t. I see you’ve married her now. You dumb c***”.

OK gents, since when do batsmen show the back of the bat when acknowledging applause for a 50 or 100? It seems new to me, and I'm a cynical old bastard but it looks like an opportunity to advertise their bat sponsorship. It's shitting me no end.

Might be a bit of that, but I think it's just an individual thing. Cook showed the face for his hundred I think.

It's like some are bat raisers and some are bat pointers when they get to a milestone. Not sure it's a conscious choice

Flintoff and Pietersen started it in the 05 Ashes.

Unlike our Parramatta players, I tend to think cricketers are merkins until they prove otherwise, hence my cynicism.

I thought the exact same thing when i saw smith doing it ... i would bet one nut it is sponsor related

Maybe it is, but when they give you a dozen $1500 dollar bats plus a cool million bucks I suppose it's a small price to pay.

I'd say it's probably a bit of both. But I don't have a sponsorship or score hundreds so what do I know?

Only clause I signed was no games on drop ins. Otherwise I'd probably be at the MCG right now
