Yes it's hard to see on what planet Agar is (at this stage of his career) a Test spinner. If he was good enough to bat at 6 that would be fine, but he's not. And England (presently) have 6 blokes in the 11 who bat left-handed....which makes it even harder. Hopefully in three or four years AJ Nair will be ready.

He's not perfect, no. But there's a lot of talent there IMO. And the day will come where we need a spinning all round option in the Subcontinent somewhere. Obviously Maxwell and Head would have the inside running but it never hurts to give your options some experience at the highest level

He's obviously got talent, but his style of orthodox spin doesn't seem to be the type that does super well on the sub-continent. It's ok that he doesn't spin the ball miles and doesn't get a lot of work on the ball, but he's gotta be able to bowl on the spot if that's the case. I'd love him to improve.
