This year, he's just been MIA, save for 3-4 games where his running game looks abit more dangerous. His passes have shown SOME potential, but he eventually gets abit carried away from that and does things like give Michael Jennings the ball(Although I reckon that was a well-planned strategy to measure his pace and waste up the energy of Penrith's only X-factor). His kicking game...
Well at least we have Robson:D
Oh wait.......
Maybe Keating...Yeah Keating's abit okay.

there have been many times where his passes have gone to ground, usually, behind a player.

There have been many many hospital passes too !!

He doesn't have a long ball so the defense gets up on his outside men forcing him to run and then he gets smothered.

He is not 100% sure of his kicks and so will not kick behind the rushing defense. What Scott Prince did to us is a kicking game. I just don't feel mortz is naturally talented in that aspect.

I hope he proves me wrong because we have some decent money on him and he is here longish term

He isn't a precision kicker, but he can kick.
His passing was way better last year, as was his kicking.
Like someone said (think it was parra pete); class is permanent, form is temporary.
The kid will come good at some stage, he's had to do way more tackling this year and obviously the weight of intense expectation hasn't helped him at all.

What I am sick to death of is people saying he is useless because he is having a bad year, and they seem to intentionally forget last year.

Well said boxhead, people have short memories and some are hypocrites.
I seem to remember some of the posters here were impressed with him last year, lingard in particular. He will be good for parra i have no doubt.
people should get off the kids back, especially the people who seem to have not much of an idea of what they are actually watching.

the sad part about all this is that the club are very reluctant to even play him for Wenty to avoid a publicity circuis surrounding his axeing..I don't blame Morts for that I blame the club who have obviously tried to push his profile too much.

I've been very critical of him this year, but I honestly think he has what it takes.

The greats are born with a certain amount of innate talent, sure. But what makes them truly great is their attitude to never give up and keep working on their skills. Sure, Joey Johns was born with talent. But his work ethic and attitude meant he pushed himself to get better and increase his skills.

I have no doubt that Mortimer will improve. Let's also not forget he is 21.

You people saying he can't pass and can't kick need to watch our 2009 Season Highlights video on the NRL website; I just watched him grubber kick for himself, dash inside and flick to Fui Fui Moi Moi against the Knights for a spectacular try that was all Mortimer.

He has shown glimpses this year that he quite obviously has a brilliant chip-and-chase, brillant support play, and is very fast. He quite obviously needs to be shifted back to five-eighth for his brilliant form of 2009 to come back; if we get Brett Kimmoreley for one year, and have Morts at 6, he will show you all he is not useless like some people think. Watching that video, and watching highlights of him this year, he quite obviously has the skills and the best thing of all; the attitude.

Here's the link for all you nay-sayers; he's not a halfback, but last year and at times this year he has showed why he will develop into a star support-playing five-eighth.

His footage is about 2 minutes into the video. I dare any of you to say that he has no class; he is obviously out of form, but his talent is permanent.

And further into the video, guess what he does? Game on the line, he breaks through the Broncos entire defensive line with brilliant pace and scores another freakish try.
Jeez, keep watching the video, he sets up tonnes of tries through good kicks and good passing and great running. Watch the video you doubters; half of it seems to be highlights from little Mortimer!
He scores tonnes of tries in this video, and half of them are from his own brilliance. You tell me he doesn't have class.
Twice in this video I have seen him cut through the defence with ease and scored himself. Freakish.

No no no, you've got it all wrong. That was actually Hayne cleverly disguised as Mortimer. The real Mortimer is in the background knocking-on and not finding touch. Hayne did everything last year don't you know?
