Do you think Holdsworth will improve? As a Perth lad I'd love to see him do well but he seems to still have a number of regular weaknesses in his game. Don't know if it is a confidence thing, wonder if he will get the starting 6 shirt?

Get Tim Winatana away from the centres. One of the worst defensive backs I've seen in recent times.

Hopefully he will soon be playign for the Red's! I think we have already seen his best sorry to say.

Stagg and Hannant are pretty handy forwards.

And Kimmorley is a gun half.

Coach is the big worry, but he may go OK, who knows?

I think Daniel Holdsworths days are numbered. I can't see him being re-signed after his current contract expires. We'll most likely stick with our recruited gun Ben Barba and Aaron Groom (after his flash performance for Fiji in the World Cup).

oh please moffo, as bad as kimmorley is claimed to be by others he is 100 times better than anyone else that has played in that position for the dogs since 2004. He will make our team a gazillion times better... but as has been pointed out all that will do is bring us up to the chasing pack.

The Bulldogs have resorted to the air mainly while Sherwin was at the helm. In 2008 our attack was so pathetic we'd resort to anything to score. In 2009, Noddy will provide us the grubbers which is what alot of teams are doing to get the points lately. We don't have big wingers so the air is not a good option. Hazem vs Folau for example - who will win that contest?

I'm happy with most of the signings. We have to do something to get off the bottom.
Kimmorley has experience, whether you like him or not - he'll be a good leader for the younger blokes.
Ennis will niggle, annoy and frustrate every team he plays against - just like he used to do with us,
Hannant and Stagg are good solid forwards - which we seemed to lack in '08.
Josh Morris could be a good buy too. He seems quick and God knows we need some speed out there.

I think we could have done alot worse - I'm not expecting much from Hodgson, Gordon or Goodwin or even big Conrad - but if even one of them exceeds expectations then I'll be happy.

Let's just sneak up on all the teams that counted us as easybeats last year and damage a few reputations - that shuold get us to the 8, then it's anyone's ballgame!

Go Dogs! :)

Mate I love that call. Not too many Melbourne-based dogs out there - good to have a few on board  - However I think Conrad will exceed your expectations and the expectations of others as he didn't make his 1st grade debut yet and he does have potential... and most people don't know about it.

The only thing I don't like is that too many people are expecting us to do very well in 2009 with our classy recruitment, and I think that may add to the pressure our team will be under.

I'm more than happy for everyone to put us down. The Dogs of War will return in 2009

I picked the dogs to get the spoon at the beginning of 2008 mainly because of their weak frontrow and halves, I think they've tried to address that this year and are looking alot better.
However kimmorley isn't the player he once was. He lead the sharks around well last year but they weren't that great an attacking team, it was their defence that got them into the top 4 rather than their attack, also when Seymour got hurt the sharks failed to trouble the scoreboard against the storm.
Whilst Hannant is a great signing, he's got a big load to shoulder. He had good players around him at brisbane who were capable of sharing the load, at the dogs he's going to have to take on alot more responsibility. If he goes down, they've got largely the same front row as 2008. IMO you can't rely on Hickey, Armit, Leaeno, Hodgeson, Kite, Morrin, Briggs to make you 100m week in week out.

Some of those names you mentioned are reliable and I also think that Conrad will have something to show. I think Ennis, Hannant and Stagg will work well together.

I never said they weren't reliable, just not guys you can count on to make you 100m a game. I personally think Conrad will struggle at prop due to his size. A 99kg prop became obsolete the day 100kg wingers and centres became a regular occurence.
Btw can i use your banner?
