That Brett Kimmorley has certainly proved how good he is in this Ashes series. You can say what you like about him, but without him Australia would NEVER have won the series. He played superb in both games and proved his knockers wrong BIG TIME.

Well done Brett.

And yes, i am one of those eating their words.

In this Ashes series he played well, keeping in mind that it has been 2 games. I'd hardly keep him ahead of Johns.

The bloke is inconsistent and has an attitude which right up there with Sailor and Rogers for arrogance. How often must I see that sick grin of his when he makes a mistake, only to see him pissed off when a teammate does the same?

His kicking game was nothing special, it was only a surprise that the Poms allowed it to get the best of them. What, monotony is now a surprise tactic? Time after time all he did was put a grubber into the Lions in goal and the only time his mid field kicking game was given an injection was when he decided to follow Deacon's lead and try the chip ploy. It's all a bit too 'monkey see money do' for my liking.

Put Morely on the field in the first Test for the full 80 and I have very little doubt that this series would have been a very different affair. Kimmorley would have possibly been looking down the barrel of a 1-4 record or worse.

Would Australia have won by 4 against England A with Johns leading, even considering the great talent in that young English team? How about that loss against NZ, the best halfback on the field that day was 18 years old.

Kimmorley is good, but he's hardly a bloke I'm over the moon about being Australia's no.7.

Agreed Bunny

Kimmorley played well, but then shouldn't an Australian half play well? His forwards went well, I thought Webcke was MoM, but it's typical that the halfback wins the award.

Question is would Australi have won with Johns at half (yes), with Gower at half (yes) or with Orford at half (yes)

People keep saying Kimmorley outplayed Gower - well swap roles - have Gower running the show from first receiver and Kimmorley out of position at stand-off!

Also, his defence was ordinary.

Noddy's defence is always suspect. However, Campbell's defence is also rather "turnstile-ish" yet peole were calling for him to go on tour too. They're little bloke who put their heart on the line everytime but lets face it a mini-minor is no match for a prime-mover. Both players are chosen in teams for their attacking flair only.

The ashes are won, I reckon Opes should play Gower at half & bring in Clinton & Lewis for the experience....but like that's going to happen.

What has the guy got to do to silence the critics. Every time he has played against Johns he's come out ahead. I still believe that Johns is the best half back in the world, but Kimmorley is a pretty good replacement for when he is unavailable. For Johns to say that he was far and away the best player on the paddock in the 2nd Test is also a pretty good indication that he is doing the right thing.

We'll never know if Australia would still have won if say Gower, Sherwin or Campbell was halfback instead of Kimmorley, but the pass that he put Gower away with in the 1st Test and the break that landed him a try in the 2nd Test were both class plays that helped Australia win both Test matches. If you want to bag anyone, pay out on Gower as his two stupid errors, that you can't blame on being played out of position, led to Great Britain tries.

It's not so much Kimmorleys fault, but certain people like Chris Anderson constantly keep coming up with crap "Kimmorley is just as good, if not better than Johns."

He's not even close. Kimmorley can have the odd super game, but he can't do it consistanly like Johns, and other star halfbacks.

I'd have Gower, Orford and Firman all ahead of Kimmorley as they have stellar games more often than Kimmorley.

I'm sorry but how many 10 out of 10 games have they had? Or even Joey for that matter? ;-)

Noddys a great player but Joey is better. Though on his day Kimmorley can be just as good(see the newcastle game this year in newcastle where he scored 3 tries, or the 60 point flogging last year). Joey is a better player, yes.But when Kimmorley plays against Joey we see the best of him and over the last few years Noddy has dominated Joey. Does this mean he is a better player? No. But it shows on his day at his best he can do what Joey can.

Kimmorley has played well on the tour and has played very well this year in a bad sharks team. You can say what you want about the scores but the fact is Kimmorley played well in all of the tests so far besides the NZ one where he was below his best but that comes with playing what 2 games in 6 weeks or more.
