In this Ashes series he played well, keeping in mind that it has been 2 games. I'd hardly keep him ahead of Johns.
The bloke is inconsistent and has an attitude which right up there with Sailor and Rogers for arrogance. How often must I see that sick grin of his when he makes a mistake, only to see him pissed off when a teammate does the same?
His kicking game was nothing special, it was only a surprise that the Poms allowed it to get the best of them. What, monotony is now a surprise tactic? Time after time all he did was put a grubber into the Lions in goal and the only time his mid field kicking game was given an injection was when he decided to follow Deacon's lead and try the chip ploy. It's all a bit too 'monkey see money do' for my liking.
Put Morely on the field in the first Test for the full 80 and I have very little doubt that this series would have been a very different affair. Kimmorley would have possibly been looking down the barrel of a 1-4 record or worse.
Would Australia have won by 4 against England A with Johns leading, even considering the great talent in that young English team? How about that loss against NZ, the best halfback on the field that day was 18 years old.
Kimmorley is good, but he's hardly a bloke I'm over the moon about being Australia's no.7.
