I think I know why we haven't been active in the player market. I did a bit of research and had a look at the players in the NRL coming off contract next year.

Don't tell me the big boys upstairs aren't grinning like cheshire cats at the prospect of being the only club who could afford these gems!

Colin Best
Corey Hughes
Misi Taulapapa
Jacob Selmes
Clint Amos
Chris Walker
Matt Geyer
Adam MacDougall
Todd Polglase
Ben Farrar
Scott Minto
Brett Finch
Daniel Wagon
Craig Fitzgibbon
Vince Mellars
Danny Nutley
Simon Woolford
Daniel Irvine
Shannan McPherson

And Finally, the Panthers off contract players - What a goldmine!!!

Matthew Bell
Luke Lewis
John Nuumaali
Mark O'Halloran
Luke Priddis
Frank Puletua
Shane Rodney
Luke Rooney
Nathan Smith
Trent Waterhouse
Brendan Worth

And we only have these few unknowns to resign, or we might just release them to give ourselves just that little bit more coin to buy more of the above listed gems

Stuart Flanagan
Keith Galloway
Chris Heighington
Brett Hodgson
Benji Marshall
Ryan O'Hara
Ben Te'o
Taniela Tuiaki

Theres a chance I may have got some of these names a bit wrong, after all, I only did a quick look around.

2009, the year of the Tiger

Ronald has topped up his prepaid and is on the phone to sparkles now about a move to the back row.
Old - check
sh*t - check
a slow 3/4 - check
back row potential - check

Where is Jackson Lipina Kaufusi Makasini Richter these days. Ronald is probably negotiating a swap for Benji

Why even turn up in 2008 lets waits for some of those once in a decade signings for 2009. Some of those names just make you excited. Just think Corey Hughes, probably push Farah back to the bench. Colin Best, would really have to think about letting TNT go.

Ronald and Shines must be making their wish list now, its not often that so many average footballers come onto the market at the same time. Like two kids in the lollie shop

Craig Fitzgibbon - Former test player a goal kicker, a back rower, old, slow, over priced.

I bet the TAB has him at very firm odds of signing with the tigers for 5 years on 450k a season from 2008.

Neither would get in the side ahead of Johnny.
I notice Isemonger and Bickerstaff not on the list
I'd be stunned if we didn't have a dig for these 2

If your gonna go for Bickerstaff and Isemonger I have an even better prospect for you guys and you could probably get him for next year. This player has all the requirements needed to make it in tigertown. I speak of the one and only Lee Hopkins.
Lee is an ex Panther, a back rower, has been coached by Simmons so he knows Simmons defensive patterns, and Lee is in his 30's. A perfect recruit. Lee was going to play Jim Beam Cup for the Windsor Wolves this year but if you throw the rest of your cap at him he might come accross to tigertown. :D :D :D :D

Is he slow, old and completely out of his depth in first grade?

Wests Tigers don't buy any old nuffy, they have to be the best nuffies money shouldn't buy.

We can only wonder what is gonna happen when the visionary that is Steve Noyce appoints sizzler for a stint as first grade coach ... we'll give soufs' a run for most consecutive spoons. Still at least we will be able to go to www.weststigers.com.au and read a story by comical cuzz about us visiting some utter f**king bell end and landscaping their garden with jamie f**king durie

Daniel Wagon will also be avaliable ;) a 5/8 waiting in the wings there for you guys! I also pretty sure that Parra's premier league hero Todd Lowie is also off contract in 2009......a back rower as well;)
