I think we should keep Thorman

Now that we missed out on Orford, I think we should persist with Thorman but not as a halfback.

With Riddell coming to the club, Morris will almost certainly move back to 5/8 and Witt will be the likely No. 7 with young Tim Smith as back up. Dykes is almost certain to be headed back home to the shire.

This presents an opportunity to have an interhcangeable hooker/half on the bench to be used in rotation with Riddell who won't play 80mins. The dragons do this effectively with Lincoln Withers who comes into hooker when Riddell goes off. I think we should start to develop Thorman for this role. Webster has been used this way in the past but let's be fair dinkum, Webster isn't half the player Thorman is or could be. Not to mention Webster is just too bloody small for first grade and is too much of a target in defense.

Thorman would need to work on his defense and probably bulk up a tad to take on the role effectively but it has worked wonders for the careers of blokes like Craig Wing & Michael Sullivan. I honestly believe Thorman would be perfectly suited to the role. He has all the skills and potential to be a real weapon off the bench from dummy half.

What are your thoughts?

i think we should persist, too. Giving the guy only one season and expecting him to cut it in such a short time isn't really fair.

I hope we exercise our righ to an option and keep him around for at least one more year.

I really can't see why Thorman will want to stay. Why play in a second grade competition for pitance when he can earn 10 times as much in England in a first grade comp.

Yeah, but if Dykes does go even with Riddell coming in Thorman will be closer to 1st grade (assuming form is good) then he is now.

With parra i believe Smith signed with us agian because he knows that thorman n dykes are goin... he can see himself as the 2nd choice halfback next yr

I hope we do keep him, unlike a lot of people I have liked what I have seen so far, he has played First grade twice, once as a hooker and as a 5/8 outside greedy Dykes and did not get a chance. I have not seen him in PL but did watch him in Super League and he was better than OK.

He won't stay!

He's apparently got a few English clubs after him and I can't see him putting up with another season in Premier league. Personally, it wouldn't phase me whether he if he went.

Looks like the 7 jersey will be fought out between Witt, Smith and Green.

Thorman has the potential to be a great player but obviously hasnt been given the opportunity. His strengths are a great kicking and passing game, and to be honest, he would be wasted at hooker.

Id certainly consider him as a stand-off (5/8th) and giving him a run there.

My club (St Helens) have been linked with him recently (although its been denied over here) and I certainly wouldnt mind seeing him in a Saints shirt during Sean Longs ban, but I think there are other clubs in the hunt for him if he doesnt figure in the Eeels plans.

Hull have just missed out on Stacy Jones (and were close to signing him before he came to you) but Huddersfield and London are also keen.

keep him and put him on the bench, could of used him last week(dykes)never know what could of happened, if he is on the bench he could come in very handy late in games.

Thorman needs time, and I reckon he's a future Pommy test half. He has the skill, but not yet the organisation. FRom what I have seen he's sharp, and has great potential.

Moving OS at a young age isn't easy. I reckon he has done better than his opportunities have suggested. BS hasn't used him well.

When Thorman had a run in 1st grade, Parra's forward pack were going backwards,
he is a class act and he will prove it wherever he ends up.

Assuming Dykes goes, we have Witt and who else ?

Anyone says Wags

The only back up is the kids in premmy league that have not even played first grade yet.

We cant keep resurecting Ben Kusto's carrer

ESL & NRL are two different games. Thorman @ ESL = Superstar
Thorman @ NRL = Average

i hope we keep him, the games he has played for us he did quite well (eg. nearly scored 2 tries, got a 40/20, although the touchie thought otherwise) and i think he would be a great impact player from the bench...as well as his good goalkicking should come in handy
