IAN HARVEY

I have noticed reading through this cricket forum alot of people dislike ian harvey the reason why i dont have a clue a know that the only once has he ever stood up with the bat when he scored 47 odd in about 27 ball and since then he has just been a bowler that can hold the bat. But his bowling is up to world class if we take a look at his first few games he was one of the best bowlers in the team and has got better and better he is well renown for the best oneday bowler (medium mediumslow) and has been said to have THE BEST slower ball in world cricket. I f you look at the world cup harvey was up there with the leading wicket takers even though he only played few games. Ohh and buy the way for all of those people who actually watch cricket remember when australia was playing india in the tvs cup final and we scored a dismal 230 odd only thanks to clarke that we got that far a little feller buy the name of sachin tendluker was on 60 odd and as about to take the game away from us who was thrown the ball to dislodge his middle stump with a slower ball harvey beleve me when i say it alot of people put that final win to harvey for getting sachin out (who buy the way was in good form then) .I have also got to mention the fact that punter has been giving the job of the end ten over to harvey usaly bowling 4 or 5 at the end and his carreer stats only have him going at 5 an over for the last ten over in a match against world standard team that is perfect bowling so i think alot of you should start watching some cricket and get your facts write

Harvey is pretty good at his bowling, but its funny how people classed him as an allrounder, when he bowls ok and his batting is crap. I saw that TVS Cup match, and he bowled pretty well. I think people disliked him because of his batting. He was lucky to be put back into the side after Watson pulled out through injury before the world cup, but hes proven himself with the ball since. Good medium pace bowler.

I've seen Harvey play some good innings, and he definately has talent.

However in hte same category as Symmons, he just is not consistent enough to cement a spot.

He is one of those player that will forever be around the Australian side, not because of outstanding performances but because one day he is going to deliver. He has or had alot of promise.

What about his performance tonight, three wickets that got us back in the game, and the run out that got Ganguly out. Superb.

Hes certainly a player that can get Australia back in the game when theyre struggling to get batsmen out.

But what about his hairstyle, whats doing there??? Thats up there with Gillespie.

harvey is good, solid with the bat makes quick fire runs when needed and is handy in the field and bowls well 2, bowls a good slower ball which not many batsmen can pick.

he is the best bowler at the end of an innings in the world ppl say he only gets the tail out but he bowls so well when the pressure is on and he is a dam good fielder. i'm sure he would get lost of 50 and 100's if he was given the same amount of chances symonds had.

harveys a great bowler but is definately not an allrounder. i remember when he hit 3 6's in a row but that doesnt make you a batsman. His bowling is based on the new tactic many teams are taking in world cricket. They have removed predictable fast bowling in place of mysterious medium slow bowling. He should stay on the Australian team.
My only problem is with his hair, it's ridiculous! :p

Harvey is not a great bowler. A great bowler plays Test cricket as well and good old Ian just isn't up to that standard. He's a good bowler when a batsman has to go the slog.

A crap batsman.

He certainly isn't a great bowler but in one-day cricket I think he is effective enough to earn a place in the team as more or less a specialist bowler who has the added bonus of some batting ability. He is tight, has good variations and is often difficult to get away. He is certainly a much better bowler than Symonds who IMO probably shouldn't bother, especially not with his abysmal medium pacers.

I know - he desperately needs a haircut!

He just got dropped for the team against the Zimbots.

When he gets a haircut, they'll name him again.

He shouldn't be in the team ATM he is not batting well (nor has he ever) and we would be better of with a specialty bowler in there.
