The first idea - away tickets for members - has been done in one form or another for around a decade.Would charging away members half price GA tickets boost attendances? Or would the same number just be half as much ticket sales to the home team?
Would it boost memberships if members could get half-price GA tickets at away games?
Do clubs put on free(?) buses to and from away games? Should the NRL help/pay for this? Would that help if the bus finished at the LC and the players mixed with members at the post-match function?
Some, most or all of this may happen to varying degrees from club to club, IDK as I'm not from Sydney.
Can't help but think some of the rules have turned people away. No fights, 10 minutes for slapping, inconsistent bunker, favouritism to players. It's different from when I was a kid watching the game.
What about a NRL season membership which guarantees entrance to any NRL game?
That and Ricky Stuart volunteers to allow fans to line up and kick him in the balls at halftime of every Raiders game, home and away.
Not to mention the average crowds now are higher than they ever were during that eraEvery old codger says that about every facet of modern life especially sports though.
A lot the reasons why crowds are low to me is due to people working on weekends more then say 20 years ago.
For me I work every Sunday 6am to 4pm cos it pays really well and I have a mortgage to pay off. My team Wests tigers this year probably had like 10 sunday games where I had to rush home just to make the kick off on time.
My days off are Friday and Saturday and I don't see my wife a lot during the week so we spend Friday together and I go to games if they are on a Saturday.
That's my problem and it's probably the same for a lot of people in such a busy city these days.
Get rid of the half an hour gap before the main game and play reserve grade before it. I used to go to games to watch the 2nd half of reserve grade then the main game. Now I don't because of the long drawn out 30 minute gap. I just don't see the need why players have to have an entire skills session out on the field including goal kicking, bomb catching, and a ball work session while the crowd waits. Is there a stadium that doesn't have a warm up area next to it?
How about starting all games at the same time on a Sunday 3:00 pm remember those days....
Dad and I went to the Broncos V Eels game and our food and drinks cost about $40.
Having lower prices would definatley help
So members pay full price while members of another team get half price?
Sounds pretty f**king stupid to me.
