If a player throws a ball deliberately into another player there will be a penalty

The Roosters one from last weekend should've been penalised anyway; he deliberately passed it forward into the player.

It’s not a new law just an interpretation of an existing rule.

NRL have copied what Superleague brought in last year after they successfully eradicated this bullshit. Toddy was just too proud to mention the RFL did it before him in his press release...

http://www.skysports.com/rugby-leag...ws-to-clamp-down-on-unsportsmanlike-behaviour

A statement from the RFL read: "Following a review of the first two weeks of the Betfred Super League season, it has become clear that some players are deliberately passing a ball into a player with the sole intention of forcing the match official to award a penalty for offside.

"Having reviewed these incidents, Rugby Football League head of match officials, Steve Ganson, has written to all head coaches and made it clear that in these situations, match officials have now been instructed to consider section 15 (i) of the laws of the game which state that a player is guilty of misconduct if he behaves in any way contrary to the true spirit of the game.

"This does not in any way absolve a defender of his responsibilities to clear the ruck and the defending team will still be penalised should the match official deem he is interfering with play."

Let me guess, you have no problem with the one the Broncos received? The one that would have went dead on the full if it didn't hit Napa.

You cannot rule on it going dead until it goes dead. You can rule on a forward pass as soon as it goes forward.

Why will they be penalized? They're just replacing one annoying penalty with another, just don't penalize a player unless they deliberately disrupt the play, otherwise play on.

Smart players always look to extract a penalty when it is mandatory, that is the problem.

If a defender impedes a play and has made no effort to get out of the way, penalise them.

If an attacker throws the ball directly AT a defender who is not in the way and makes no attempt to pass to anyone on his own team then its either play on as the ball is live or its a penalty to the defensive team for being a cheating merkin

It says a lot about the moral calibre of the NRL coaches that this needs to be dealt with. Seriously the coaches should have zero involvement in the direction of the game. Leave them to coach their clubs and have no other involvement. They are repulsive cheats.

I made no comment on the Broncos one, so not sure how you are inferring the above. The Roosters one stuck out because the player broke the rules to win the penalty, which is the refs' fault more than anyone's for not recognizing it.

Those passes that Milford and others do are embarrassing for the game and no better than someone taking a dive in soccer. The refs call 'milking' in other circumstances, so I don't understand why they couldn't have done the same in these situations.

You can't rule on something, until that something has happened?
My mind is blown, thanks merkin.
It wasn't directed at you, you brain dead child. I realise it was painfully obvious but half the time that needs to be pointed out on this forum. Now back into class for you.

Is there any other sporting organisation that changes the rules or has as manly “crackdowns” as the NRL? Especially after the season has started.

The game lacks real leadership.

And a friendly media. Let’s be honest if the media didn’t froth at the mouth at some minor issue every weekend the Lilly livered ceo wouldnt have to feel a duty to respond.

The media cannibalise the game but at the same time clubs don’t make themselves available to them.

This shit sells apparently so we’re stuck with it but nothing Greenberg has done to date rates a mention in my book.

Friend whilst having no problems with his moral compass, does have problems with actual compasses

He throws forward passes consistently
Not "clever" forward passes Cam Smith style which referees always miss, but "dumb as a box of spanners, can't tell up from down" forward passes which he must do because he is in a state of constant confusion.

Calling his pass forward and deliberate is harsh as I genuinely believe that he doesn't have a f**king clue. Otherwise he wouldn't keep getting such a simple thing wrong

Leave the lad alone. Its not his fault

PS The Broncos one was more blatant cos he obviously meant it :p

That was a disgusting penalty. If I was the referee, I would've immediately blown a penalty against Milford for milking!

The NFL changes its rules a lot more than the NRL and in really creative gutsy ways, but it does so in a pro active way.
They have an objective (lots of touch downs from passing plays because they are entertaining to the fans) and once the game even looks like being dominated by defense they adjust the rules. Currently they are likely to get rid of kick offs which is to do with safety but also they dont think it is very entertaining. \
I would love for the NFL to run Rugby League. I cannot even think of the last gutsy rule change the NRL made.

Yeah because if you had your way rugby league would be a completely different game every month with 5 rule changes a week.

I would change the rules often enough to stay ahead of these coaches who have pretty much ruined the game. They are dumb ex footballers so you could just change the rules every 3 years.
