If Ever a Win Was Needed.........

Now is the time.

If Parra can pull off a big win this weekend it will have an enormous influence on the rest of their season.

Its amazing how quickly things can change in rugby league. If they win, all of the greif we've suffered after last weekend's mess will just seem like an early season hiccup. We'll be talking about combinations which are starting to form and about our star players going out there again and carving up the next team.

Even HJ and Misty Bee will stop bickering.

The press will turn its attention towards another club's woes and the cycle will continue.

The Eels do have a couple of things going for them this weekend:

1) As much as I dislike Brian Smith's selections, he does have a habit of beating Brisbane. And it doesn't reallly matter to him whether it's here or there.

2) The players will be looking to make up for lost pride. They blew it last weekend and that would have hurt. They would also like to know for themselves that they can do it without Lyon.

3) We actually have some great players on the paddock. It's just that we lost confidence in them last weekend. Hopefully they'll show their stuff.

On whether the off season giant recruiting experiment will be successful? The jury is still out...

It's going to be a very tough ask with all of the disruptions throughout the week, but I'm not without hope.

I have also found it quite ironic that with all the goings-on at Saints there is no talk of a crisis out at Kogarah. Barrett injured (again), Firman dropped and Gasnier wanting a rest.....sound familiar. A win this weekend by the Eels and I know exactly where the attention will be focussed in monday's papers.

If Parra were to win On Sunday they would need improve their attitude 100000000%. A good attitude bring good defence and so on. Let hope they can do it.

I personally think the big men is the way to go.

We sucked at it last weekend, but we are trying something new - I don't expext the team to gel into a new style of play just like that.

On attitude, I think the boys for the first 20 minutes were doing great. It's just after Cayless got binned and the Dogs were scoring points everytime they touched the ball, I think our players from last year and beyond just dropped their heads a little and thought, "Not again!"

I think every single one of the boys who was out there last weekend (with the exception of Killer; LOVE YA KILLER!) will look to improve their efforts.

And why can't it happen? With Cannings starting (which is what should have happened V the Dogs IMHO as that would have taken some of their sting out of their defence; they ALWAYS tackled Cannings with three or four men) and Dykes playing very, very well, not to mention our try-scoring machine Muzza in the team and Burty looking to redeem himself and Freshy wanting !BLOOD!, not to mention Guru wanting more tries ...

I still say, though, that my only concern is Wise K on the wing. I hope the coaching staff have gone through the defensive strategies with him a bit (to 'Wise him up'). Otherwise, it's a great team. I particluarly like the fact Webster is on the bench - a little spark player is exactly what we need. And I like this bloke. I think he can tackle, run the ball, pass it and kick it. Great little player.

So, in conclusion:

GO YOU GOOD THINGS!!! GO AND GO IN HARD!!! ETC

GO THE MIGHTY BLUE AND GOLD EELS!!!

if we put webke, tallis and cinoveciva on their butts nice and hard and quick all game (weve done it up there before heaps of times), it will go a huge way towards a victory. it will be won there.

We're a real chance.

Berrigan has just been ruled out of the team.
Number of changes in the Broncos team - a lot of kids are now in their backline.

Sportstab has the Eels paying $5.00 for the Half/Full time double.
Get on it.

Our loss had nothing to do with the big men approach.....it was basically our handling errors & defence out wide!!.....Jamie & Peterson played a big part in us getting flogged.....they missed 11 tackles between them.

Move matt back to the wing where he belongs!!!!

I reckon if Brian was coaching the team in 81 he would have played Ray Price as the 5/8th and Brett Kenny at Hooker!!!

The problem last week wasn't that we had too may "big men" on the park. The problem was they had even bigger men.

We didn't have anyone that could get close to Willy Mason or Sonny Bill Williams in size. Even some of their smaller men (Anasta, Price, Asatasi) are a fair size!

Some of the biggest hitters in the comp arnt that big:

Morley: 104kg
Crocker: 100kg
Betham: 94kg
Beattie: 106kg
O'Hara: 104kg
Wiki: 106kg
Tallis: 104kg

There are so many good forward that are under 105kgs. Parra's best forwards are Cayless and Hindmarsh and they are only about 105kg each.

Don't forgett Ian who barely tops 100 kg and was always the Eels biggest hitter when he was at the club.

The young guys we got have to come into the side cause quite frankly they are better than some of the older guys in the team. Get Peek, Armit and Tsoulos in the side fulltime and then Parra will have V8 power in the engine room.

Well if we can't beat the Broncos without Carlaw, Berrigan, Meyers we are screwed for the rest of the year.
