If Lockyer is ruled out...

Hill and kimmorly in the halves, maybe gower to the bench instead of wing and i think bowen needs to be there. alternatively, gower to 5/8, Kimmorly to 7, Hill to 13 and bowen in for wing. Give webcke a resta nd bring in o'meley. Hindmarsh needs to be replaced with someone who does some hitups....this guy does 100 everytime he plays for aprra but hardly any when he gets a rep guernsey. I also reckon cooper should come into the team somewhere

Though I am of the opinion the new number 6 should be Scott Hill who IMO is in some ways similar too Lockyer attacking wise though less dynamic when running the ball, I read today that Craig Wing is a likely replacement partnering Craig Gower.

Hmm...forgive me for not getting excited over the selection, yes, Wing filled in admirablely last tour and for the remaining 20mins or so on Sunday morning, though I would prefer we put a specialist five-eight in there and not follow NZ and in recent times GB (thankfully they now have a five-eight and are now not slotting in Sculthorpe or Farrell) in playing someone out of position in this key role.

Guys now that Fitzy is OUT, Kimmorley has to be there, he is the only goal kicker left in the squad! Its just whether GOWER will be there. Considering these latest developments, I would have Wing at 5/8 and put BOWEN on the Bench! I know Hill is teh second 5/8 but he makes too many erros for my liking, especially in wet English conditions!

What are u talking about, Hill is one of the best runners of the ball in the opposition 20.

Also, what is this crap everyone is talking about, that Hill can only play with Kimmorley, he hasn't been given a chance with any of the other halfbacks so how can you have an opinion on that

I beleive broncodroid was comparing the ball running of Scott Hill to Lockyer. Scott Hill is an awesome player and IMO he should be Lockyer's replacement irrespective of who the half is, although I would go for Kimorley.

In saying this, Lockyer is a better ball runner by far and thats why he is condsidered the best player in the world at the moment. Scott Hill has awesome ball skills and footwork but to say his ball running is better than Lockyer is simply not true. If it were then Hill would be current NSW & Aussie 5/8th not the replacement.

Will be interesting to see if Kimmorley gets through this meaningless Cumbria match un-injured.

Cheers Borat, you hit the nail on the head ;-)

Whilst I appreciate the Melbourne faithful thumping their chest sticking up for their man in Hill, he is in no way near the ball runner of Darren Lockyer and to suggest otherwise utterly ridiculous.

As Borat covered, Hill is an awesome player who even got the better of Lockyer in their last meeting (Lockyer's first game back from injury lay-off though he was our best player) and I have the upmost respect for him as a Rugby League player. He SHOULD be in the 6 vs GB and I only hope W_B and the his selectors see it that way as I do not think Wing is the answer in a Test that will secure our place in the final.

I don't like what I'm hearing out of England at the moment, I have to tell you. It appears that, firstly, Kimmorley will be halfback with Gower at five/eigth in the test this coming weekend.

Personally I think Hill should get a start, but that's not the end of it. Hill and Kimmorley were to play for the ANZAC's against Cumbria on Wednesday night, but now Bennett wants HILL rested in case Kimmorley picks up an injury and can't play on Saturday.

Call me crazy, but why not just rest Kimmorley? There is little chance of him getting injured, and if he doesn't where does that leave Scott Hill? Likely not to see the footy field at all this entire tour. So why did they bother taking him?

I think it was obvious that after Lockyer was out, even considering taht Hill was the next best 5/8 technically, realistically the GOWER-Kimmorley parnership worked well last time in England!

Scott Hill is there to cover 5/8, but as an International player I see him mainly as a lock! And there is already too many locks on tour!

Before any of you guys say that Hill-Kimmorley is a great parnership, think of this how many games have they played together since Kimmorley left the storm? It wouldn't be more tahn how many Gower-Kimmorley played on last year's tour!

its great news for us that Fitzgibbon and Lockyer will miss this weekends test we may have a chance of winning??????
To tell you the truth, id definately draft in Kimmorley, he done a lot of damage against us last year, he's a quality player, not as good as Joey though. It would be good to see Scott Hill get a cal up aswell, he is technically a good player, i think he would have done better at a better club than the Storm, no disrespect to the storm!

Who's head is Morley gonna take off after a minute this time around seen as Kearns isnt in the squad? ha ha ha!

I think you guys are in for a tough series, we have a very good young squad, quality all over the park, but are short on a winger, Carney is the only natural winger, he'll be in, i think Chev Walker will be put out of position on the other. Waite put Richard Horne on the wing last year, he had a nightmare series. I dont like the idea of playing players out of position, it just F**ks things up, but in this case Noble has no choice!

The 5/8 and half is really irrelevant - Hill is a super player, as are Gower, Kimmorley and Wing - so whatvere combination they pick will do fine - there's little doubt about that. Timmins is an option too, but that will negate the speed and skill in the outside backs.

Personally I'd like to see Hill and Gower - but I can see an argument for Kimmorley and Hill on the basis that they've played together before, and Kimmorley can kick goals (albeit in a medicore way). I'd keep Wing on the bench, but of he plays, then Bown must come onto the bench - and if he's confident that would be a lot of fun!

The whole problem is that they selected only one goal-kicker (Fitzgibbon), who's hurt, a reasonable back-up (Lockyer) who's hurt, and several poor third options (Kimmorley the best of them, but there are others)

I believe they need a replacement that can kick goals, or if they think Kimmorley is good enough then he has to play. I am in no doubt that Aust are the best side ( I am a Kiwi) but think it'd be pretty arrogant not to have a decent kicker - mind you, the Kiwi side doesn't have one!!!)
Maybe they should see if Johns is fit?? El Masri??

Oh bugger it, I've contradicted myself too many times - Hill and Gower, and the goal-kicker is whovere kicks straightest in practice...

My 2nd Test Team would read;

1 - Anthony Minichello
2 - Luke Rooney
3 - Shaun Berrigan
4 - Willie Tonga
5 - Matt Sing

6 - Scott Hill
7 - Brett Kimmorley

8 - Shane Webcke
9 - Danny Buderus (capt)
10 - Mark O'Meley
11 - Nathan Hindmarsh
12 - Andrew Ryan
13 - Tony Carroll

14 - Craig Wing
15 - Petero Civoneceva
16 - Willie Mason
17 - Shaun Timmins

No goalkicker! This is the only reason I would perhaps unsurp Gower for Kimmorley...I am not sure going into a Test without even a 2nd string kicker is enticing to W_B.

I would like to see Gower remain at half it has to be said though Kimmorley may get the nod for his g/k ability (albeit 2nd rate) and his partnership with Scott Hill.

Yeah your right. What about the test earlier on this year. Vagana at fullback. Absolutely shocking. I feel sorry for him for that.
Your also right about Australia having a good challenge. I can't wait to see the Aus Vs G Britain. Do you reckon they can put Leon Price on the wing?

Hill and Kimmorley killed it for country this year. Picked up right where they left off a few years back

according to NRL.com Kimmorley will come in to the side if he makes it through the ANZAC game today with Gower to move to pivot so again...

SCOTT HILL = SHAFTED!

You are kidding right! Do you want the centres and wingers to get the ball! Geez they will be catching a cold out there if Timmins is 5/8![/quote]

Last time I checked NSW won the last 2 Origins series, both times Timmins was at 5/8th, so it can't be too bad an idea
