That's crap. Dogs finished 2nd that year and weren't that far behind us and Brisbane were also right up there.
I think eelsta is right, it's only regarded as choking if it's parra or the dragons.

Thats it, well by some of the people on here who have no idea

It will be the biggest CHOKE in Premiership HISTORY!!! There can be NO disputing that!!!

They have finished the season with no team even remotely close to them at ANY level. Bellamy and co have covered EVERY aspect of their game to near PERFECTION. All t's crossed and i's dotted.

The pressure is on. Can they handle it, or will we see the greatest choke of ALL time???
Ohhhhh the Pressure....

Big El might just get to them.

NOT.

For arguments sake the 2001 top 8:

Parramatta 42
Canterbury 37
Newcastle 33
Cronulla 32
Brisbane 29
Sydney 27
St George/Illawarra 27
New Zealand 26

Biggest in history...doubtful at the least. Parra in 2001 would be pretty close in that regard and that is only looking at recent chokes!

nup. in 01 the Eels lost 4 and the Dogs only lost 6. Newcastle were leading the comp and then Johns got injured and they lost about 8 games. When he returned they started thumping teams again.

I love all this. If Melbourne are going to win the comp then they are going to win it and there's nothing that can be done to stop them. Just like the Tigers and the Panthers of recent years everyone kept on saying why they couldn't win it and they still won. This makes me want the Storm to win even more badly.

the word choke is ridiculous!

it's an insult to the teams that succeed. if the storm lose it'll be dissappointing because they've clearly been the best team this year.

No way it will be a choke.

The Storm currently deserve favouritism - but only just. The fact is that they've sucked - and sucked hard - in recent finals series, and have to prove themselves in this type of football. So they've dominated the first 26 rounds...who cares? No one will come October 1.

Cronulla in 1999 was a pretty big choke, as was the Dragons in the final

(still painful memories...)

Won the first week of the finals the last 3 but lost the 2nd week. I wouldn't call that sucking hard. I'd call the Broncos losing their last 6 finals matches sucking hard :whistle

I hate to say this, but Manly 1995 was the biggest choke that I know of. I still have nightmares to this day.

They were 22 wins and 2 losses before that Grand Final and couldn't score a try in the GF!

the 95 minor premiership was decided on by for and against.

the Storm finished 8 points clear of second this year

Yeah but Manly finished 12 points ahead of the Bulldogs in 1995 but the Bulldogs won the Grand Final 17-4.

el you forget that they have a relatively untried forward pack. they WILL be exposed in the finals

And in 95 Manly and Canberra both bowed out to the bulldogs

At least storm should follow the trend they have set in the last few years of finals by winning in the 1st week. The bonus of that is that they will get a big jump over the 2nd week hurdle that always seems to kill them. Brisbane are 3rd again, can they get over their recent week 1 hoodoo at suncorp? maybe the fact that they dont have to play storm will help
